" I remember years ago, someone told me I should take caution when it comes to love, I did I did, you were strong and I was not My illusion, my mistake I was careless, I forgot I did"

---

The world around you faded

It was the smell of a hospital that awakened you. Your whole body was in so much pain, mostly in the neck. You found it hard to distinguish one thing from another when the noise in your head was resonating, and when you first opened your eyes you blinked them shut because the light was unbearably painful. Then you felt the voice of a concerned Velvet.

"She's awake!"

Her voice pulled you back to reality. You opened your eyes and shut them several times, trying to regain your vision back. there they were—the twins—Velvet and Veneer, standing by your bedside. Their frowns showed a combination of faith and some measure of concern.

"Are you feeling ok now?" Veneer asked.

Your mouth was already dry and you attempted to swallow. "I..." You yawned several times, and massaged your eyes, bid to chase the tiredness away, but the yawn clung to you like a shadow. Every part of you ached.

"Take it easy," Velvet said, her eyes looking nervously at the monitor, "You've been through a lot."

It all came rushing back. The fight. Ash. The venom. The overwhelming pain. And Kai—Kai, who had been there but then... You gasped as the thought hit you like a punch to the gut. "Where's Kai?"

You stared at Veneer and saw his glance shift for, perhaps, one second. Something wasn't right.

"He is... for now steady," Velvet replied equally calmly, though her voice was even more guarded than his.

Stabilised? What did that even mean? Was he hurt because of you? The anxiety wrapped around your chest and smothered you.

"Were there any injuries?" The question ended in a rush in your lips; your voice filled with fear. You had to find out whether Kai was all right.

"That's not the point dolly." Velvet said, as if she was trying to steer you away from that thought, "We need to know if you're ok."

You felt your throat constrict and gulped a lump down. "Yeah... I am."

But was that true? You weren't so sure. Each part of you wanted to yell out in agony, and your neck where Ash had bitten you tender was still throbbing horribly. It was something that was almost spiritual, as if something evil was crawling in your flesh.

Veneer sighed, his shoulders relaxed just a bit. "I got the venom out in time. You're still you, don't worry."

You nodded, wondering if everything was actually going to be alright. You just couldn't be bothered by that uneasy feeling, especially when it came to Kai.

"How long was I out for?" you asked.

The twins exchanged a glance, and in that silence, you knew it wasn't good.

"Three days," Velvet finally answered. "The pain and stress caused you to have another seizure."

You stared at her, wide-eyed. Another seizure? Three days?
