Beyoncé Knowles
NY"We can give you $1200 for it."
"That's it? I paid more than that for it though." Beyoncé sighed on the other end of the phone.
"You may have but I'm honestly working with you right now trying to get you the maximum amount. If we're being honest the car is completely useless and with us having to get it towed here you were really only supposed to get $500, but you sound like you really want to get rid of the car so I made a few adjustments. Let me know now I can't guarantee you who ever is working another day will give you the same price." The man over the phone spoke with a gentle tone to Beyoncé.
"Alright... I'll do the $1200. Can we set it up to get towed in today?" $1200 wasn't enough but she knew she wasn't going to get anything more for the rust bucket that she owned.
"Certainly as long as it's before 3pm, and we can have the check written to you as long as you have the title with you."
Beyoncé set an appointment for her car to be picked up within the next 2 hours. The gas station owner had told her it needed to be moved soon or he'd have it impounded. She didn't have the funds to keep pouring into a no good car so her best bet was selling it either way.
Beyoncé put the title to the car in her bag then left the apartment. She had to catch the train so she began walking to the station.
She connected her head phones to the audio jack on her phone then put on a playlist to walk to. As the music played she began to think about reasons to put a smile on her face. She wasn't getting as much as she thought she was for her car, but she's getting something. Plus God had woken her up today and that was plenty of enough reason to smile.
At Last by Etta James began to play as she boarded the train and her mind wandered to Nicki. She remembered she had given Nicki her number. That was over a week ago and she hadn't heard from her yet.
Perhaps when Nicki dropped her off and saw where she lived she finally realized they had nothing in common. Her mind didn't dwell on Nicki for too long or at least she didn't want it too, but 6 songs later she was still thinking about that woman.
As hard as she fought her insecurities about her status in society she still loved how the conversation flowed between the two of them that night.
By the time Beyoncé arrived to her car her mind had done a 180 on her thoughts about Nicki.
"Is this what she wanted to do? Sweat me when she saw me, but not call or text after getting my number." Beyoncé thought to herself.
When the tow truck pulled up she forced Nicki out of her mind and spoke to the man. He introduced himself before giving her papers to sign for him to get started with the tow.
