With the days, which turned into weeks and later months, since Nahla found Neuvillette, he grew a deep connection and attachment to her.
As the days passed, he had grown more and more attached to her, and he liked to do all sorts of little things for and with her.
She was a little puppy, he followed her everywhere and tried his best to help her.
He learned a lot of new things and Nahla noticed how he had problems to express or recognize his feelings. She took the time to explain to him, for example, what joy or sadness was, that when you were happy you smiled and when you were sad you shed tears.
So time passed and one sunny morning while she was combing Neuvillette's medium length hair she announced something.
As he sat there on the chair in front of her, he slowly closed his eyes and enjoyed her gentle touch on his head.
He liked it a lot when she played with his hair. He felt so relaxed when her fingers ran over his scalp and he unconsciously leaned into her touch every time.
„I'm going to visit a friend today...is it okay if you stay here with sedene? It won't take too long, but there is something I need to discuss with her." She spoke in a gentle voice as she furred through his silky hair.
He felt even more relaxed when she began to speak...but then he processed the words and his eyes snapped open in surprise.
"You're leaving?"
She stopped briefly and just smiled at him. "Yes, but I'll be back soon. I'll probably only be gone for a few hours."
She spoke as she began to further treat his hair.
He furrowed his brow a little as he slowly tilted his head back, so he could look at her.
He tried to understand that it would only be for a short time and that she would be back soon, but it didn't really calm him.
He didn't like the idea of her leaving, because he had grown so attached to her, he really didn't want to be seperated from her, even if only for a small time.
He fidgeted in his seat and spoke hesitantly.
"Why can't I come with you?"
She looked at him with a smile before she slowly came in front of him and crouched down in front of him. „Well, Neuvillette, I don't think it's the right time for you to get to know her yet..."
She took his hands in hers before she continued speaking. „Don't worry, I'll introduce her to you at some point...for sure, there's something I need to discuss with her that you probably don't understand yet."
„But don't worry, the time will come...its just not...now..."
He listened to her carefully and looked at the floor. He really didn't understand why he couldn't come with her, but at the same time he didn't want to talk to her again.
He felt something he couldn't understand, like a big lump forming in his throat and his stomach rumbling unpleasantly.
"Please let me come with you..." he whispered.
She looked at him with slightly sad eyes before getting up and taking him in her arms and hugged him tightly.
He closed his eyes as she hugged him, pressing his face against her chest.
He didn't want to admit it, but he was scared. He was scared of her leaving. He didn't know why, but he didn't want to be left alone, he was scared of being alone.
He wrapped his arms around her and held onto her tightly as he whispered.
"Don't leave... please don't leave me here."
"I'll come back...but you have to wait for me here. Don't worry, I'll hurry up...you won't even notice that I was gone!" She said while she cupped his cheeks carefully.
He was really sad and afraid that she would leave him, but he also wanted to accept her decision.
He nodded slightly and buried his face in her chest with sad eyes.
"How long will you be gone?" he mumbled against her chest, while he still held onto her tightly.
He knew that it would be selfish to keep her here and ask her not to go even though it was obviously important...but he just couldn't help himself.
"As I said, I'll try to hurry...a few hours maximum..." she said while gently playing with his hair.
He closed his eyes and let out a small sigh, enjoying the feel of her hand running over his head once more.
"Promise that you'll come back?" He mumbled.
She smiled softly as she leaned down and put her head out of his. "Promised." she murmured.
It was difficult but in the end he let her go and with a sad smile she walked out the door while Neuvillette sadly staggered behind her.
As she closed the door and went out, she felt many gentle raindrops on her skin.
Strange...wasn't it sunny just now? She asked herself as she looked up at the dark, cloudy sky.
With a slight smile she started to walk away as rain slowly trickled down her body.
„Wait for me...Focalor..."
