"Jesus, slow down!" Steve slurred as him, Robin, and I were crammed into the back of this mini-kart thing as we sped, as fast as this thing would go, down the long hallway to the elevator. Dustin drove while Erica sat up front. I'm not quite sure what was in the drugs Steve and Robin got, but it made me even more concerned by the second. It also didn't help that my hands were buzzing and I felt light-headed from using such a strong amount of power all at once. Normally I'd just about pass out from lifting a demodog for a few seconds, but something felt different. I felt... stronger.
"Yeah, what is this, like, the Indy 500?" Robin slurred.
"It's the Indy 300." Steve argued.
"No, dingus, it's 500!"
"It's 300!" Steve yelled back at Robin. After recalling in my memory of a book I read once while in hiding after escaping the lab, I can confirm it's 500.
"Let's say a million." Robin suggested and they both busted out laughing.
"What is wrong with them?" Erica asked from the front.
"I don't know." Dustin answered.
"They injected some drug into them." I answered. "I don't know what it is or what it does."
"And why aren't you drugged?" Erica sassed at me.
"Because I don't want to get poked and treated like a lab rat again." I sassed at her back.
"Dustin, watch out!" She yelled.
"Shit!" Dustin exclaimed as we ran into a stack on tin barrels as Steve, Robin, and I's head slammed onto the kart wall.
"Oh!" Steve and Robin groaned.
"You guys all right back there?" Dustin looked back and asked.
"I am already light-headed, Dustin. That did not help."
"Well it doesn't help that the only person here with a driver's license conveniently gets beaten up every time." Dustin retorted, referring to Steve's confrontation with Billy last year. I remember it all too well.
Dustin and Erica got up and opened the door to the compartment we all were in.
"Come on. We gotta go, now." Dustin demanded as I attempted to get up. "Let's go!"
"Come on! Get out!" Erica yelled at us as I grabbed Steve's arms and attempted to help him out as Robin got out before us.
"We're coming!" Steve yelled back at Dustin as Dustin walked over to the elevator and swiped a keycard onto it. "This sucks." Steve exclaimed as I practically dragged him over to the door.
The entire elevator ride up Steve and Robin acted more like children than the actual children here. Steve stood on a flat cart while Robin pushed it around. I held very tightly onto Steve's arm because he does not need any more injuries compared to the long list there already is.
"Hey! You look like you're surfing!" Robin whooped.
"Surfing! Yeah!" Steve whooped back. "I'm a natural! Check it out!" Famous last words because Steve then fell off the cart and onto a stack of boxes.
"Wipeout!" Robin exclaimed as Dustin and I ran over to Steve. I cradled Steve's head in my lap so Dustin could get a look at him. Dustin put his hand over Steve's forehead.
"He's burning up." Dustin said.
"You're burning up." Steve snapped back.
"One sec, one sec. Steve, Steve." Dustin continued as Steve tried pushing him off but I held onto his hand before he got the opportunity to.
