Royal Au

The warm breeze blew through his hair gently, causing it to shift into his eyes. A hand brushed upwards to move it away, his icy blue eyes meeting down to look in his hand which contained a ruby red coloured rose.

The field was a peaceful place. It was where he could come to sit or relax if he was feeling sad or annoyed, especially after an argument with his father. The silence all around felt comforting.

Little did he know, his personal guard has ventured into the field and was standing a few feet away from him. Making sure to keep the distance between the two.

He was silent for a little while, before calling out his name.
"Prince Michael..?"

The brunette jumped slightly upon hearing his name. He looked behind him to see a blonde haired guard a few feet away from him. His body relaxing as he realised who it was.
"It's just you.."
He said with a small smile before he turned back to examine the red rose in his hand.

"Indeed." Nodded the guard. "I didn't mean to scare you at all, Prince"

The prince shook his head, letting out a small sigh.
"No, no. It's fine, I just got lost in my head...also don't call me Prince. Just Michael."

"It's an order and rule that I must call you Prince?" Noah stood straight, unmoving from his stand a few feet away from Michael.

The Prince sat still for a moment before turning to look over again. He let out a small huff and looked at the knight, annoyed.
"Why are you so formal all the time Noah?"

"It was an order I learnt during training, protocol." He replied blankly

Michael rolled his eyes at the blank response, and looked back down at the rose. He carefully touched one of the red petals.
"Father always says I need to grow up and stop acting improper. I hate it...I just want to have fun but he is always on my back."

The field grew with silence again. The guard stood awkwardly in front of the prince. He of course knew how King William treated him, always making sure he was acting accordingly and being polite, proper, careful. He was always there whenever he scolded his son for his messy behaviour.

"I never get to have any fun because of his expectations. I'm supposed to be proper all the time and learn how to be the next ruler but I want to have fun and be carefree! I hate having to listen all the time and be a 'good' Prince..."
He let out a small huff of frustration, growing quiet near the end of his words.

"I know how that feels...Prince..." Noah finally spoke. He looked to the side, avoiding any eye contact that may happen between them.

The Prince looked back up at him, a confused look on his face as he tilted his head to the side.
"How would you know what it feels like?"

Noah paused. Taking a moment to think.
"I shouldn't be talking about it."
He frowned slightly, looking at the grassy field beneath him.

Michael stood up off the ground, walked right up to the guard and stared at him intently. He didn't want the topic to suddenly be let go.
"Come on. I'm your Prince and I order you to talk to me."

Those words seemed to catch Noah off guard. His face heated up slightly as he took in the words 'I'm your Prince.' He shook his head and sighed.
"It's not protocol to talk about any personal problems we may be experiencing."

"Screw the protocol! Tell me!"
The Prince said firmly as he frowned. He was clearly stubborn and determined to get an answer, crossing his arms and looking upwards into his eyes.

"...You're crushing your flower.."

His eyes wondered slightly as he quickly unfolded his arms. Looking down at the now crumpled rose, a few petals came off and fell to the ground. He frowned, looking at it sadly.
"Oh no.."

"It's okay." Noah spoke up. "Just because it's broken and falling apart, doesn't mean it's not beautiful." He smiled softly as he took the rose gently out of the Princes hands.

He watched as Noah took the poor flower out of his hands. He looked up with a sad look on his face still because he ruined his pretty flower.
"But I ruined it.."
He mumbled before looking back down at the broken flower.

"That's alright, it's still beautiful isn't it?" He looked down at the red rose. "Broken things are still beautiful."

He slowly looked back upwards at the guard, taking a small moment to process what he had said. The Prince soon smiled gently as well as he turned back to look at the rose then back at Noah.
"I suppose so...you really think broken things are still beautiful?"

"Of course. It's the same for people. Even if they are broken inside, they're beautiful too."
He looked at Michael, a warm smile spread on his face.

Michael tilted his head, listening intently to what Noah had to say. He never thought of people like that before. He was quiet as he thought of Noah's words. Soon enough his cheeks grew to have a slight tint of pink.
"You think I'm beautiful..?"

The guard chuckled softly, handling the rose back.
"That's a silly thing to ask, Prince."

He hesitated as he took the rose back, continuing to listen to the knight as he glanced down at the crushed flower in his hands. He pouted, still waiting for a proper answer.

"So do you think I'm beautiful?"

He asked again. The Prince then looked back up at Noah. Looking into those ruby red eyes.

"Who knows, Prince?"
He grinned as he winked, turning and taking a few steps forward.
"Let's go, the sun will set soon and we don't want to be late back."

The brunette stood there for a moment, processing the response. His cheeks grew pinker but he frowned before quickly following the guard. Soon he was walking beside him in silence.

"I don't like you sometimes."
He mumbled.
