Campfire Epilogue

(The Turtles and Splinter had gathered around a campfire while Don told the story of Same as it Never Was)

Don: "And...and then it was just April and I left. That's when I was pulled back to the Battle Nexus."

Mikey: "Whoa...that's why you flipped out over me having both arms!"

Raph: "Jeez Don...to think I was racing motorcycles, Mike was with superhero bros...and Leo was palling around with Usagi...and you were going through absolute shell.."

Splinter: "My son...I wish you had told us this long ago..it breaks my heart to know you kept this to yourself all this time.."

Don: "Yeah...honestly it started to feel like a bad dream after a while...I'm just glad I didn't have to stay in that world for too long.."

Leo: "I wish we could've switched places, Don. I'd give anything to go through that so you didn't have to."

Don: "Thanks Leo...I'm glad everything worked out. For now at least."

Raph: "I still don't believe it. Karai freaking kills me?! And Leo? I told ya she was bad news, bro!"

Leo: "Yeah..but she was still invited to the wedding...right?"

Mikey: "With Chaplin! Don't forget Chaplin! He's a fine chap!"

(Raph tosses a rock at Mikey)

Leo: "Yeah..."

(Leo's cell shell rang)

Leo: "Hello?"

Karai: "Leonardo! It is I. Karai. I wish to inform you that Chaplin and I have broken up!"

Leo: "Oh uh...okay. Why..why are you telling me this?"

Karai: "....no reason, goodbye! Hopefully our paths never cross again! And also I somewhat forgive you for murdering my father!"

Leo: "Uh..thanks. I appreciate it but..it was actually mostly the utroms that stopped him? And they were at the wedding too? So were you?"

Karai: "...yes well they are lucky I did not make a sushi bar out of them! Goodbye, Leonardo! You better hope my father never returns again!"

(Hangs up)

Leo: "Huh?"

Mikey: "Ooh! Leo's got a gir..!"

Raph: "Don't say it! Don't you say it!"

Mikey: "...Battle Nexus Champion!"

Raph: "There y'are."

Splinter: "My sons. I have a deeply profound question for you all."

Don: "Yes, Sensei?"

Splinter: "Your eyes lately...what..what is happening to them?"

Raph: "What..what do ya mean?"

Splinter: "They would normally look rather...white and sharp with your masks on. But ever since just before we left 2105 the first time...they have been.."

Mikey: "Been...what?"

Splinter: "...much more expressive?"

Leo: "Huh. Maybe the environment of the future changed our appearance somehow."

Don: "How did we never notice that before?"

Mikey: "Come to think of it...didn't April sorta look completely different too? Like she used to have pale looking skin and red hair? Now she has orange hair and less...pale?"

Raph: "Huh. Maybe being in the future for a year did somethin to our eyes! And our memories of April!"

Don: "Maybe changing the timeline so much altered our appearances?"

Leo: "Or..."

(Leo slowly shifts his bandana slightly to the side, causing his eyes to change from large pupils to white slits)

Mikey: "Whoa! Me next! Me next!"

(The rest of them did the same with their bandanas)

Splinter: "Ah...much better my sons. Very nostalgic..Like the old days."

Raph: "I knew my eyes felt a little funny..thought it was just cause a cyberspace or somethin."

Don: "Look! The Sun's coming up! Time to head home?"

Leo: "Sounds like a plan."

(They all packed up their things and drove back to the lair with the sunrise glowing beautifully over the horizon)
