Melody's POV
I immediately stood up, dusting off my clothes and looking around to try and find whatever made such a monstrous sound! Though, I'm not too sure I really wanted to see it. I heard loud thuds as the ground seemingly shook beneath me. This was horrifying! I took a few hesitant steps forward.
I wanted to run, but I didn't want to run straight to wherever this— this thing was! There was another roar, this time followed by a quiet squelch and almost cry-of-help other roar. Then loud, repeating thuds as the ground once again shook. I let out a shaky breath and decided to make a run for it. My legs carried me as fast as they could— which was surprisingly pretty fast— occasionally stealing glances to see whatever might've been chasing me.
However, one time I glanced back, and there was nothing behind me. The next, there was a bunch of— of— I didn't even know what the hell they were! They wear big and round, as if they were fat. Though, something told me they were supposed to be that big. Either way, they were big.
On top of that, they had large, horrifying spikes from the bottom of their neck, all the way to the tip of its tail. The beasts only fueled my fear. If my legs could carry me any faster, that'd probably be bad because I already wasn't paying attention to where I was going. One moment I was running from probably blood thirsty beasts, the next? I was face planted into a pit, surrounded by... eggs?
A confused expression took over my face as I counted all the eggs that surrounded me. Eggs that were about half my size. What was growing in those? I heard the rumbling coming closer and I remembered that I was still being chased. I quickly scrambled up against the wall of the ditch, hoping they wouldn't see me and attack me.
I squeezed my eyes shut, quietly whimper-begging not to be seen and killed. Moments later, the stampede reached me and the ditch, darting right past me. I hesitantly opened one of my eyes, peeking to see the stampede. They were just... running past me. Wait.
If they weren't chasing me.. Then what was chasing them? After the stampede— crushing a few of the eggs as well— passed there was more thudding. Just... not as frequent. The time between steps were longer.
It must've been big. I decided to take a peek out of the ditch to see what they were running from. It couldn't be that scary, right?
??? POV
"Oh, you sweet, summer child..."
I commented with a slight smirk.
"Anyways, Melody peered over the edge of the ditch as an attempt to see what was chasing the triceratops."
Melody POV
I peered over the edge of the ditch as an attempt to see what was chasing the other beasts. Jesus fucking Christ, I wish I hadn't done that. The monster seemed to be 10 feet tall, and 50 feet wide! Impressively sharp claws, and even sharper teeth. Me and the monster made eyes contact, and just like that my adrenaline started pumping.
I let out an involuntary yelp, scrambling back and almost knocking over an egg. If he hadn't seen me before, he definitely has seen me now... I got back up to my feet, climbing out the other side of the ditch. I latched my hands onto the edge and hastily pulled myself up. As soon as I got out of the ditch, I started running again.
Though, no matter how fast I ran, the monstrous creature would always be hot on my trail. And it wouldn't be long before I ran out of stamina and energy to run...
