The episode begins will a few flashbacks to the events of the previous events of the last episode, involving the two protagonists leaving Pallet Town and entering Route 1, before cutting over to the encounters with different wild Pokemon groups, before ending with Pikachu defeating the horde of flying types, and the two young trainers preparing to step foot into

Narrator: Last time, Ash, our hero from Pallet, chose Pikachu, a Pokemon who was not too thrilled with its new trainer. They were joined by another young boy from Pallet named (Y/N), and his chosen partner, Charmander. Soon, Ash and Pikachu found themselves fighting off a flock of fearsome Spearows, while (Y/N) and Charmander helped a Nidoran escape from a pack of troublesome Mankeys.

Narrator: After regrouping, Pikachu saved the day with its amazing Thundershock, but the electrifying encounter left Pikachu weak and his fate in his trainer's hands. Now, both Ash and (Y/N) prepare to step into a new location, determined to help the Pokemon in their hands.

After the recap has concluded, the episode resumes with a landscape view of Viridian City, also known as "The City of Evergreen" by most in Kanto, and as the sun begins to fade over the town, a female voice echoes all across the place through speakers, with the voice belonging to a figure known as Officer Jenny, who's speaking through a radio in her hands.

Officer Jenny: (into the radio) Attention, citizens of Viridian City! Attention, citizens of Viridian City! We have reports of possible Pokemon thieves in our area. Be on the lookout for suspicious looking strangers. Repeat, be on the lookout for suspicious looking... (notices something) Huh? Speak of the devil.

What Officer Jenny has just spotted through the window of her station is a heavily bruised Ash carrying a heavily injured Pikachu in his hands, while a slightly bruised (Y/N) carries a heavily injured Nidoran in his hands, while Rengoku rests on his shoulders. As the two boys run past her station, Officer Jenny grabs them by the back of their shirts, preventing them from carrying on.

Officer Jenny: (calmly) Hold it, you two. And just where do you both think you're going with those Pokemon, young men?

Ash: (defensively) It's my Pokemon and it's hurt, and I've got to get it to the hospital right away.

(Y/N): (whispers to Ash) Ash, that's an officer! (looks to Jenny) Sorry about my friend, he's just really worried for his Pokémon's health. As for me, I'm also looking for a hospital to help this wild Nidoran. Some over wild Pokemon weren't too kind to it.

Officer Jenny: (grows concerned) Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you both might've been stealing them. Just show me both your I.D's and you can go.

Ash: (nervous) I.D? Uh... I don't have any? (looks to (Y/N)) Do you?

(Y/N): (shakes his head) I dunno! (looks to Officer Jenny) Well, you see Miss, we just came here from Pallet and we-

Officer Jenny: (interrupts) You know, you both are the fourth and fifth person I've seen today from Pallet Town.

Ash: The fourth and fifth? (to (Y/N)) Oh, that means Gary Oak is here already.

(Y/N): (shrugs) Well, he did leave via a car, so it's kinda obvious that he'd make it here before us, Ash.

Officer Jenny: (jumps back in) Sorry for interrupting, but it's very unusual for someone to carry a Pokemon around in their arms or on their shoulder, and not in a Pokeball. (smirks) How do I know you two didn't steal those three Pokemon, especially since you both don't have any identification?
