"Hey."
Estella stood rooted to her spot, her eyes fixated on the king before her with utter confusion, and with a bit of guilt starting to stir up within her as well.
"Oh, hello," she started, finally blinking after a long moment of holding eye contact before stepping fully into her study, making sure to shut the door behind her—just for precaution. "What uh— what brought you here?" She questioned, her gaze following each small movements Lucifer made, the way his eyes fell to the ground every so often, how his awkward smile would slightly drop before being pulled back to resume its once earlier state, and how his hand would rub the back of his neck nervously. From the looks of it, being in her presence after the incident had brought discomfort towards the other.
"Business," he replied shortly, soon followed by awkward silence whilst the two waited for the other to continue. "I hope you don't mind the unexpected visit," he broke the silence before clearing his throat, his tone of voice growing more serious.
"I heard what happened up in Heaven," Lucifer's eyes pierced into her own, trying to decipher her thoughts and emotions, trying to read her whether she had indeed, gone up there after all the warnings she's been told. However, seeing as Estella merely averted her gaze from him, it only confirmed his theory he had dreaded since the news arrived to his doorstep. "Father is not happy with the outcome," he went on, a frown forming on his face when he watched as the other fallen angel begin to divert her attention to the objects inhabiting the room, clearly trying her best to ignore the king's presence.
"He's going to have your wings—or worse—your head if He ever gets his hands on you," the Fallen Star continued to deliberately ignore him, causing a fire he never knew he had within him to burn. "But the good news is that He cannot come down here so you're safe," he carried on in a rather harsher tone, stepping forward an inch closer to the female who proceeded to ignore him.
Lucifer stared at the stubborn platinum-haired girl with disbelief, silently cursing himself and her under his breath.
"Won't you say anything?" He prompted impatiently. He heard her let out a defeated sigh, watching as she finally turned to face him.
"What is there to say?" She asked simply, looking rather bored by their interaction. Lucifer was reminded of her expression of when she had battled Azrael, how she barely even lifted a finger, easily overpowering him, causing a sickness by the memory in the pit of his stomach.
Had she felt nothing after the incident?
No guilt? No sadness? Was she just heartless?
Lucifer was just about to snide in a remark of his own when he was rudely cut off by Estella suddenly moving towards her desk where he was standing just earlier, seemingly trying to distract herself from his mere existence.
"While you're here, could you tell me if you've seen a short imp who goes by the name Dirk?" She asked him with her eyes fixed onto the loads of paper stacked on the desk. "I couldn't find him so I thought you might have an idea—seeing as you had made yourself at home during my leave," she finished coldly, turning back to face Lucifer whilst using her arms to support herself by placing them on the desk behind her, leaning back slightly into the study table, her gaze an icy cold, causing a shiver to run down his spine just by the look she was giving him.
"I don't know—but that's not the point," Lucifer suddenly said, pointing an accusing finger at her. "You're trying to change the subject," he then later pointed out, starting to become infuriated by the way Estella was behaving.
