XThe next day dawned. Or so I thought. Because the alarm clock rang, an ugly loud ding that took up the entire room.
Almost all the girls covered their ears, including me. My ears have always been sensitive to loud noises, such as beeping, whether quiet or loud.
My hearing was keen, which is why I noticed the footsteps outside the door, getting closer and closer.I stood up quickly, my nightgown went down to my ankles, it was white, almost transparent.
My question was, why? Why almost transparent?
But I couldn't continue my question because the heavy iron door was pushed open with a violent jerk.My pulse was pounding in my ears and I could hear my heart pounding sickly against my ribs.
The other girls quickly moved to stand still in place.
Her lower lips trembled and her fingers played nervously.
Just like me. My bottom lip was chewed and my fingertips were brittle. It hurt, really hurt. But it was the only way to distract from the pain that lay deep within me.I hated that I was so obvious about how I felt. A twitch of your eyes and a brief hesitation are enough to symbolize how nervous you actually are.
The soldier in front of me has a machine gun in his hands, which was actually enough to intimidate us.
His mask covering his entire face made the man even scarier."Come with me." He ordered us and left the room again.
We quickly started moving and formed two rows, as if by ourselves.
We moved with steady steps, like my military. For fear of doing something wrong. For fear of being eliminated like the others before us.My green eyes analyzed the gray surroundings. Everything looked like a bunker. With large screws, it was also a little rusty. The building must be a bit older.
"Hey... what's your name?" a brown-haired woman who happened to be walking next to me asked me. My eyes met hers and an immediate feeling of home arose in me.
"Audrey." I replied and tilted my head to the side.,,And you? What's your name?" I asked back as we turned a corner.
"Maya." She answered and looked around briefly.
,,What do you think? Do we keep our names?" the brown-haired woman asked.A good question. If I look at it that way, we would probably give up our names so that we don't feel like we're at home here.
Before I could answer, the soldier pushed open a door at the end of the hallway.
When we entered we saw 8 chairs that looked a bit like a dentist's chair. My fingertips searched for the sleeves of my nightgown. I nervously played with them. The atmosphere was tense and cool.
Goosebumps spread across my body at the thought of having to lie there.
“Lie down.” A man in a white coat that covered his entire body ordered us.
