Chapter 5: Barking UP the Wrong Tree

"You're just another Scavenger, like the rest of them." Sonic then goes to spin dash at Thorn but was hit back by her hammer. "Sonic!"

Flashback:

"Can I open my eyes now?" Sonic asked as all he could see was his white gloves covering his eyes. "No, Sonic, not yet." Amy says. "Amy, you better not be tricking me into the water again." Sonic says. "No trick, Sonic. Trust me. You're gonna love it. Okay open them!" Amy says. Sonic removes his hands from his eyes. Sonic then sees all of his friends sitting around a palm tree while Amy was standing in front of Sonic. "Ta-da!"

"You got me.... the Palm Tree? So, it is a trick." Sonic asked. "No, Sonic, it's not a trick." Amy says. "But I already have a palm tree. That one. And that one. And those over there."

"The gift isn't just the tree. It's all the memories we've made around that tree." Amy says pointing towards the tree. "Like that time when you bet me I couldn't fly up to the top by the time you ran home and back. You still owe me by the way." Tails chuckles.

"And the time we worked together to make that coconut cream pie." Knuckles says knocking a coconut into his hand.

"Or when I saw you by a coconut cream pie and told Amy that you made it." Rouge says flying in. Amy looks over at Sonic as he chuckles nervously.

"Or when we first met and I had no idea where I was going." Stella says as she sits down in front of a rock next to the tree. "Or that time I laughed so hard, chili shot out my nose. [laughs] I still can't smell." Big says sitting next a rock were Froggie was sitting on.

Amy then walks up the palm tree. "Yeah, really good times. Right Sonic?" Amy asked. "Come one, guys, don't you think you're all being a little too... I don't know... sentimental?" Sonic asked laying on the picnic blanket. "Look, I get it. Tree. Friendship. Memories." Sonic starts listing but then gets distracted when big holds out a plate of chili dogs. "Chili dogs!" Sonic then starts eating the chili dogs like a messy pig. "I guess you don't get it, do you, Sonic?"

Sonic was launched very far away with Stella flying after him and Thorn rose right behind her. Thron rose then goes to smash Sonic, but Stella grabs Sonic's hand and moves him away. But when the hammer hit the ground, a tree started to grow from the ground. "Yes! The power to regenerate the jungle in a single strike. Hi-yaa!" Thorn shouts smashing the ground with 4 spikes coming out and with the 4th one hitting Sonic and Stella.

The two then landed on their feet and got into a fighting position. "Oh! I could get used to this!" Thorns shouts. "That's not good." Stella says. Thorn then smashes her hammer onto the ground making a tree cover a spot of light. "Finally, I can shut them out. All of them. They'll never harm the jungle again."

"Uh, what was that now?" Sonic asked. "Let's see what this hammer can do." Thorn shouts and then she starts smashing her hammer everywhere making trees grow out from the ground making the area go darker and darker and the only light was Stella's s headband, eyes, Sonic's shoes, and the Shard.

Just imagine that Stella is there flying next to Sonic while dodging the tree branches. Also, Stella landed on her feet when the two were launched into the air when the tree grew under them.

"It's an expression." Stella says helping Sonic up. The 3 the point their weapons towards the two more. "What are you doing here? Last time we saw you two, you both were with the monster, betraying us." Gnarly snaps at the two. "You got it backwards bud. We didn't betray you. I went to get the shard." Sonic explains.
