Chapter 8: There's No ARRGH in Team

Stella's pov:

We ran for cover at the Badniks started shooting lazers at us. Sonic and I hid near Dread. "You know these scallywags?" Dread asked. "Yes, and no." Sonic says. "But short version their after the Shard too." I explained. "You mean the Devil's Lighthouse? Let 'em have it! I already told you two, that I want nothing to do with it."

Just as Dread was about to get hit Sonic run and grabs Dread and dodges some lazers as he runs out of hiding. Suddenly the middle sail (Idk what it's called) Came crashing down towards me, but I opened my wings and flew out of the way.

"By order of the Chaos Council surrender or be destroyed." Rusty commanded as I landed behind Sonic. Sonic stands up while Dread runs off. "Rusty this isn't New Yoke City. Come on let's talk this through."

"Quiet hedgehog! I was addressing the captain."

Rusty explains. "He be the captain." Batten speaks while Sonic smiles cheerfully. I just rolled my eyes. "Sonic is the captain?.... I wish I were programed to laugh." Rusty says with a deadpan look. 'I wish you were programed to be normal and not follow the Chaos Council' I thought. I shook my head. "How are you even here?" I asked as the rest of the pirates walked up to Sonic and I. "The tides of war have changed. And as for how I am here, is now the councils for the taking. Last chance: Surrender or Sink"

"What's the plan cap'n? Hang 'em from the yardarm? Send 'em down to Davey Jones? Cleave them to their biscuits?" Batten asked getting right up in Sonic's space. "I hear you talking, but I have no idea what you're saying." Sonic says backing up a little. I then hear Rusty command the badniks. "Fire!"

The lazer hits the ship causing us to get sent flying to the other side. "The Angel's Voyage is holding up surprisingly well." I say impressed. "Aye, she's stronger than she looks." Sails explains. Dread picks up the captain hat and places it on Sonic's head. "You gonna do something, cap'n?" Dread asked. "You bet I am! Stella and I know this crew. They're a well-oiled fighting machine." Sonic finishes jumping back up. I stood up. "Don't ever say that again." Sonic then runs onto of the middle-broken sail beam. "Battle stations! Go! Go! Go!" He was then shot off and over to the other side of the ship.

"You bill sucking buffoon! They don't know what to do. They've never been in combat before." Dread explains. Batten goes to throw a barrel but Sonic runs and grabs her and brings her over to a canon. 

"Shoot this at them" Sonic explains. "Aye, aye captain!" Batten says as she leans on the canon releasing it making the canon ball shoot right into the air. Sonic quickly spin dashes and hit the metal ball over to the badniks only for it to barely scratch it. The badniks all look at each other and started to shoot as us again.

Suddenly some of the lazers hit the side of the boat making it fill up with water. "This is bad. Sails!" Sonic calls out. I the turn around and started flying while dodging the lazers being shot at me. I turn my hands into guns and destroyed one badnik and that's when I heard Dread shout. "Sound the retreat before we sink!" I flew down next to Sonic and that when we heard a whirring sound from behind us. We turned our heads and saw a small bot scanning Sonic's shoes.

"Shard energy compass calibrated." The small bot says. "That's not good." I say. Sonic then jumps up trying to grab it, and I follow behind, but I just missed it. I go to fly after it, but more lazers got shot at me. "Perfect we have what we need. This demarks the end of our time together. Vaporize them. Goodbye Sonic and Stella."

That's when I noticed Rusty and Black rose both spotted each other. "Who is that?" They both gasped. I then saw that Rusty started glitching. "Wait! Set course, we will be on our way. No need to waste time destroying a sinking ship."
