Chapter 8: Always Fighting (For) Each Other

In the seat of Divine Foresight, General Jing Yuan and General Huaiyan were standing while watching the front door, as if waiting for someone to arrive. Then, Yanqing entered the room, accompanied by Yunli by his side.

"Yunli?! What are you doing here?! You're supposed to be preparing for the wedding!" General Huaiyan exclaimed.

"Funny you should ask, grandpa, that's EXACTLY why I'm here!" Yunli shouted back.

"It's okay, Li. calm down." Yanqing said while placing a hand on her shoulder. Jing Yuan also notified Huaiyan to do the same. Later, Yanqing started to speak.

"General Jing Yuan, General Huaiyan, I come before you with Yunli to ask of a favor from the two of you."
"It's concerning the arranged marriage of Yunli, and what our actions should be moving forward."

Jing Yuan shook his head.

"Yanqing, you should know better than to interfere with the politics of our fellow ships."

Yanqing placed a hand on his chest.

"I understand the teachings that master Jing Yuan has taught me about, but I just cannot let this slide."
"If the Merger Project was to be commenced, the Zhuming would be under our control, just as the Luofu would be in theirs."
"Such project would not come to fruit if we still choose to ignore each other's problems now."

"But young Yanqing, we on the Zhuming has no problem for you to solve." Huaiyan said. "Young Yunli's marriage has been decided, and there will be no-"

Before Huaiyan could finish, Yunli cut in while taking a step forward.

"I never said I'd do it, grandpa! You chose that for me!"

"It's for the greater good, young Yunli! I've said this before, and I won't repeat myself."

Yunli let out a growl, but Yanqing stepped forward to calm her down and spoke up.

"General Huaiyan, as the next acting general of the Luofu, and potentially the next general of the Luofu-Zhuming, I'd ask for you to reconsider."

"Oh? Quite bold to make that claim now of all times, aren't you?" Huaiyan said while stroking his beard.

"If Yunli is not comfortable with the current arrangements, then I am the same. I believe there's more ways to solve your current problems, and we, as the Luofu-Zhuming, can come together with the solution that benefits all parties."

Jing Yuan looked towards Yunli.

"Yunli, do you corroborate with what Yanqing says?"

"Huh? Of course I do. Is that even a question that needs an answer?" Yunli answered without hesitation.

Jing Yuan nodded.

"I see. Then I take it that Yanqing speaks for you for the entire portion of this meeting?"

Yunli nodded.

"Absolutely."

Jing Yuan nodded again, and looked towards Yanqing.

"Well then, future general Yanqing. Suppose lets say Yunli does not get married to the IPC executive. What do you suggest we do if they continuously ask for more than we could give in the near future?"
"If what you say about Yunli's marriage potentially jeopardizing the integrity of the Merger Project is true, wouldn't the same still happen if their initial plans went through instead?"

Yanqing was left speechless, unable to give a proper answer.

Suddenly, Yunli cut in again, helping Yanqing out.
