The battle erupted in a blur of chaos. The Red Queen's army moved with precision, their swords slicing through the air as they charged toward Faye and Briar. Faye's pulse thundered in her ears as she ducked and dodged, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
Briar fought with a grace that only a princess trained in battle could possess, her sword flashing as she parried blow after blow. But the sheer number of enemies was overwhelming, and Faye could feel the weight of Wonderland's madness pressing in on her, dragging her down.
In the midst of the chaos, Alice watched from the edge of the clearing, her eyes distant, as though she were no longer fully present in the world. The madness of Wonderland had consumed her, twisted her into something unrecognisable. But there was still something in her—some small, flickering remnant of the girl she had once been.
Faye could feel it. And she knew that if they were going to survive this, they needed Alice's help.
With a surge of determination, Faye sprinted toward Alice, dodging the swings of the Red Queen's soldiers as best she could. Her legs burned, her lungs screamed for air, but she didn't stop. She reached Alice's side, her breath coming in short, desperate gasps.
"Alice," Faye said, her voice shaking. "You can stop this. You don't have to let Wonderland control you."
Alice's gaze flickered again, and for a moment, her eyes cleared. "Wonderland... it's broken," she whispered, her voice raw. "Just like me. There's no fixing it."
Faye's chest tightened. She understood now. Alice wasn't just a victim of Wonderland's madness. She was part of it, bound to the chaos of the Story-World just as Faye was bound to the broken tales.
But there was still time. There had to be.
"Alice," Faye said, her voice stronger now. "We can help you. But you have to trust us."
Alice hesitated, her eyes locking onto Faye's. For a brief moment, Faye thought she saw something—hope, maybe, or the faintest spark of trust.
But before Alice could respond, the Red Queen let out a scream of rage, and the sky above them shattered, plunging Wonderland into complete, suffocating darkness.
