Chapter 9: Bonds and Truth

Scene: Nandini Confronts Vikram**

Vikram, still reeling from the earlier confrontation, walks over to Nandini’s room. He knocks softly, but Nandini’s voice, cold and distant, stops him.

**Nandini** (without turning): "Vahi ruk jaiye."

Vikram, confused, pauses at the doorway.

**Vikram**: "Kya hua, Nandini? Tum mujhse baat kyun nahi kar rahi ho?"

Nandini, her back still turned, takes a deep breath and finally speaks, her voice trembling.

**Nandini**: "Aapne mujhe kyun nahi bataya? Jab tak aap sach nahi batayenge, tab tak main aapse milna nahi chaahungi."

Her words hit Vikram like a blow. He feels his heart sink but knows he must face this conversation.

**Vikram** (softly): "Nandini, tum jo puchogi, main uska jawab dunga. Tumhare har sawal ka."

Nandini slowly turns to face him, her eyes filled with pain and confusion.

**Nandini**: "Kya aap mere sage bhai ho ya nahi? Yeh sach hai ya jhoot?"

Vikram, unable to hold back, lowers his gaze and speaks the truth he’s been hiding for so long.

**Vikram**: "Nahi... Main tumhara saga bhai nahi hoon."

Nandini’s expression changes from hope to heartbreak. Her shoulders slump as she absorbs the truth, and tears fill her eyes.

**Nandini**: "Toh phir? Tum kaun ho, Vikram? Tumne mujhe kyun apne bare mein sab nahi bataya?"

Vikram steps forward but stops as Nandini moves away from him.

**Vikram**: "Jab main chhota tha, mujhe Mausi ne bataya tha... Ek din, ek aurat ne mujhe sidiyon par chhod diya tha. Us waqt main sirf ek baccha tha, samajh nahi paaya tha ki meri asli maa kaun thi. Vo aurat... vo bahut ameer lagti thi, lekin uske baad kabhi nahi mili."

Nandini, still crying, whispers: "Aur Arjun ko pata tha...?"

Vikram nods slowly.

**Vikram**: "Haan, Arjun ko sab pata tha. Lekin usne kabhi kisi ko nahi bataya... usne mujhe apne bhai se kam kabhi nahi samjha. Par vaise bhi, kya farak padta hai, Nandini?"

Before Nandini could answer, Arjun walks in. He notices the tension in the air and immediately grows concerned.

**Arjun** (anxiously): "Kya ho raha hai yahan? Tum dono itne udaas kyun lag rahe ho?"

Vikram remains silent, but Nandini, still emotional, bursts out with the whole story, telling Arjun everything that had happened earlier.

Arjun listens in shock, his expression hardening. His hands clench into fists as he hears how Vikram was insulted and humiliated. Without wasting a moment, Arjun storms out of the room.

**Scene: Arjun Confronts Mala and Athreya**

Arjun finds Mala and Athreya in the living room. His anger radiates from him as he calls them out.

**Arjun** (furiously): "Mala aunty! Athreya! Yahaan aaiye!"

Mala and Athreya, surprised by Arjun’s tone, walk over.

**Mala** (sarcastically): "Kyun bulaya hai, Arjun? Ab kya nayi problem hai?"

**Arjun** (voice firm): "Maine aapko pehle hi kaha tha, meri family se door rahiye. Phir kyun aap Vikram ke piche padhe hain? Kya jarurat thi uski beizzati karne ki?"

Mala crosses her arms, unapologetic.

**Mala**: "Maine jo kaha, vo sach hai. Tumhare dost ki asalat sabko pata chalni chahiye thi."

Athreya, standing beside her, adds smugly.

**Athreya**: "Arjun, tum kisi aur ke liye apni maa se lad rahe ho. Kyun? Uska koi haq nahi hai yeh sab pe."

Arjun's face darkens with anger, his voice sharp and cutting.

**Arjun**: "Meri maa zinda nahi hai! Aur inhone kabhi mujhe apna beta mana hi nahi! Agar mera haq hota, toh main kabhi unka beta na hota."

Mala flinches slightly at his words but tries to maintain her composure.

**Arjun**: "Aur Vikram ka kya kasoor tha? Kya jarurat thi use neecha dikhane ki?"

Just then, Dadi enters the room. Sensing the tension, she looks around and sees the expressions on everyone’s faces.

**Dadi** (calmly): "Yahan kya ho raha hai?"

Arjun clenches his jaw and motions toward Mala and Athreya.

**Arjun**: "Dadi, inse puchiye. Ye log Vikram ki bezati kar rahe hain, bina kisi wajah ke."

Dadi's gaze softens as she turns to Vikram, who looks devastated.

**Dadi** (gently): "Vikram, beta, tum kab aaye? Tum udaas kyun ho? Sab jaghde bhool jao. Chalo mere saath."

She takes a step toward him, trying to bring peace.

**Dadi**: "Main apne haathon se laddoo banake laayi hoon. Chalo, nandini, chalo. Arjun, tum bhi chalo."

**Arjun** (still fuming): "Lekin, Dadi—"

**Dadi** (smiling): "Woh sab baad mein dekhenge, Arjun. Tum abhi aao. Vikram kabse khada hai yahaan. Chalo, jaldi karo."

Arjun, still angry, looks at Vikram, who gives him a nod. Reluctantly, they all follow Dadi, temporarily letting the tension ease.
