It was past six in the evening the next day when Verdith called her.
"Where are you? It's Sam's birthday. She's inviting us over dinner at her house." sabi nito sa kabilang linya saka siya tumingin kay Nate na abala sa paglalaro.
"Okay. Bihis lang ako." wika niya saka binaba ang tawag at lumapit kay Nate.
Inuwi niya si Nate dahil hindi niya pwedeng iiwan sa ina niya ito. Her father's health needed attention that's why she can't let Nate affects them. Makulit pa naman ito.
Dinala niya ito saka nagmaneho patungo sa bahay ni Sam.
Bumaba na sila ng sasakyan at naglakad papasok sa bahay ni Sam ng may tumawag sa kanya. It was her father's secretary. He told her that she has an unscheduled appointment with one of their investors early in the morning the next day.
Tumingin siya sa anak niya saka sinenyasan ito na pindutin ang doorbell saka naman ito malawak na ngumiti at inabot ang button saka pinindot ito ng paulit-ulit.
"Here I come!" rinig niyang boses ni Verdith na palabas na nang bahay. "The missing doctor is here!"
Tumawa siya saka inabot rito ang dala niyang paper bag na may lamang desserts.
"Hello!" bati ni Nate
Tumingin si Verdith sa gawi ni Nate saka nanlaki ang mga matang tumingin kay Eirlys.
"What the-?"
Sumenyas ito na pumasok saka siya tiningnan nang masama nito.
Nang makapasok sila ay dumiretso ang anak niya sa couch saka kinuha ang phone nito na nasa maliit na bag na dala nito.
"Nate, this is your Tita Sam and Tita Verj."
pakilala niya sa mga ito saka lumapit ang anak sa dalawa at niyakap ang mga ito at humalik sa pisngi.
"I don't mano with beautiful ladies." sambit ng anak saka bumalik sa inuupuan.
Tumabi siya ng upo rito saka umupo naman sa harapan niya ang dalawa na di maipinta ang mukha.
"You really do have a lot to explain." nakapangalumbabang sambit ni Sam saka niya nginitian ang mga ito.
"When did all this happen? I mean, look at the resemblance, it's all that man's- I can't believe I'm seeing this."
"Anong nangyari? Four years ago, you left without telling him, why?" taas kilay na tanong nito saka siya bumuntong hininga at sumandal sa couch.
"Four years ago was a mess. I wasn't expecting all this would happen. Nung nalaman ko na kailangan operahan ang kamay ko, I suddenly felt so depressed and I ended up having a hard time controlling myself. And then while looking so depressed I learned that I was pregnant with him."
"You mean? That time that I saw you at the hospital that's the time you found out?" gulat na tanong ni Verdith.
Tumango siya rito. "The heck?" sambit nito saka tumingin kay Nate. "I mean- why did you keep it from us? We could have be with you supporting you. You've been through a lot."
"I was struggling really hard before and knowing Storm married me for business it added up to all the mess. That was the most vulnerable time of my life and everything felt like a total chaos. So, I left and move to Canada for myself. Healing.... Making my life better, away from stress and to raise my son."
"I felt so sad, hindi ka man lang namin nadamayan sa mga panahong iyon." malungkot na sambit ni Verdith.
"It's fine!" sambit ni Eirlys.
"Did he know?" tanong ni Sam saka ngumuso kay Nate na abala sa paglalaro sa phone nito.
Umiling naman si Eirlys bilang tugon.
