CHAPTER 1

AVERYS POV:

"Avery, wake up!" my mom called out. I sat up, yawning and rubbing my eyes. We had finally arrived in our new town—Stars Hollow. I glanced out the car window and took in the view. It was charming, with its quaint streets and small-town vibe.

After a short drive, we pulled up to our new house. It looked cozy from the outside, but once we stepped inside, it felt empty and lifeless. We stood in the bare living room, waiting for the movers to arrive. I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Finally, the moving truck pulled up, and the movers began carrying in furniture, filling the house with life. Piece by piece, it started to feel more like home. As they set the last box down, I felt a wave of relief.

"All done," my mom sighed, wiping her forehead. I looked around at our newly furnished space, a smile spreading across my face.

"Can I go explore?" I asked eagerly, already feeling a pull toward the charm of Stars Hollow.

My mom chuckled, "Sure, but be back before dinner."

With that, I grabbed my jacket and rushed out the door, ready to take my first steps into the adventure that awaited me in this new town.

I wandered through the town, taking in the quaint shops and lively streets, when a small diner caught my eye. The sign read "Luke's Diner," and something about it felt warm and inviting. Curiosity got the best of me, so I pushed the door open and stepped inside.

The place was bustling with people chatting and laughing over steaming cups of coffee and plates of food. My stomach growled as I watched a waitress deliver a stack of pancakes to a nearby table. After a moment, I spotted an empty booth and decided to sit down, feeling a little out of place but excited.

I was still glancing around when a voice startled me. "What can I get you?"

I looked up, and there he was—a boy around my age, holding a notepad. He had messy dark hair and piercing eyes that made my heart skip a beat. God, he was beautiful.

My brain went blank, and all I could do was stare at him, frozen. He raised an eyebrow, clearly waiting for me to say something. "Uh... I..." I stammered, desperately trying to remember why I was here.

"Coffee?" he suggested, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Y-yeah, sure. Coffee," I blurted out, my cheeks heating up as I realized I was still staring at him. He scribbled down my order, glancing up every now and then with a slight smirk.

"Anything else?" he asked, but I could barely think straight. I was so caught up in how gorgeous he was that I hadn't noticed how awkwardly silent I'd become.

"Uh... no, that's all," I managed to mumble, my eyes still locked on his. He turned to leave, but I kept staring, completely entranced. It wasn't until he glanced back at me with a confused expression that it hit me—I had been staring at him this whole time.

Mortified, I felt my face flush a deep red. Without thinking, I bolted up from the booth. "I-I have to go!" I squeaked, nearly tripping over my own feet as I rushed out the door.

Once outside, I stopped to catch my breath, burying my face in my hands. "Great," I muttered to myself. "Way to make a first impression, Avery."

I got home, still cringing at what had just happened. As I stepped inside, I noticed my mom napping on the couch, oblivious to my embarrassment. Without a word, I headed straight to my room, closing the door behind me.
