Solangelo One-Shots

Birdwatching AU

     Sorry I haven't published much one shots in a while but here's one I finally finished.

     Nico was crouching down behind a bush, binoculars in his right hand and holding it up to his eyes. He has them pointed at not one, but three hawks that are perched on branches of a tall oak tree. Nico's eyes widen in fascination of the three birds. One stretches out it's wings, showing off it's beautiful feathers, for a second then folds them back up, scanning the surroundings. Nico makes sure to stay as silent as he can, it could take just one tiny sound to startle one of the hawks and that could cause the other two to scatter also.

"Hey Nico-" "Sh! Shut up, Percy! You're going to scare them!" He whispered.
"Sorry," Percy apologized. "I'm just really hungry."
"Yeah, I'm hungry to, Nico. I love doing this but we've been doing it for three hours!" Jason whispered.
Nico scowled at them, "Okay, fine. Go eat. I'm staying here. Make sure to leave quietly!"
"I'll bring you something to eat when we come back," Jason whispered, Nico only nodded his eyes fixated at the hawks.

Quietly, Percy and Jason crept away from the bush, knowing that if they made a single sound that scared the hawks away, Nico would be fucking pissed. When Nico is really mad, it's really bad. He will basically release hell on you if you managed to make him that angry.

    A small smile formed on Nico's face as he watched the three astonishing birds. He loved birdwatching. It was relaxing and helped him keep his mind off of things. He had actually joined a birdwatching club at his school and each month the members would split into groups of two or three at the most and would go look for birds. They would also usually write about their sightings, draw the birds that were seen, record sounds the birds may have made or snap a few pictures. Then at the end of each month there would be a meeting and the members of the club would discuss the birds that were seen, listen to the recordings and look at the pictures. If Chiron was impressed by your work he'd sometimes give your group a gift card to a nearby smoothie place and he'd even put your pictures or writings up on a bulletin board.

     Percy, Jason and Nico made a pretty good team. Nico and Jason both liked to work on the writing together but there were some things they all were really good with. Jason was great at getting good close ups of birds from up high. (He can climb almost anything!) Percy and Nico had a fear of heights and would never dare to take the chances Jason took to get pictures. Old wobbly bridge over a five-hundred feet drop? No problem for Jason! Percy was good at getting underwater pictures. Sometimes ducks would be swimming around in a lake and Percy would go under water with the water proof camera and if those ducks stuck their heads underwater to get food or anything like that, Percy could snap a pretty awesome picture. He was also able to get some pictures of birds just diving towards the water to get fish. Any kind of water themed picture, Percy was the bro for the job. Then Nico would take pictures too and being the night owl he is, he would get some great pictures of nocturnal birds that were out in the night. Taking pictures wasn't the only thing Nico was great with but Nico had amazing drawing skills. When he drew something, he always was able to capture so much detail. The first time Percy and Jason saw how Nico could drawn they were in awe at how he drew so perfectly.

Suddenly, Nico heard irritatingly loud footsteps approaching, he looked in the direction the steps were coming from thinking it was Jason and Percy. To his surprise it was Will Solace. Will is one the students who assists the nurse in the school infirmary during free period, extra curricular activity classes, and sometimes during lunch. Will was also in the bird watching club. He sucked at birdwatching, he'd scare away all of the birds in some stupid, annoying way. He hardly had pictures of the birds they were mainly very blurred or if his group had pictures that were taken with good quality it was either taken by Lou Ellen or Cecil.

Generally, Will-fucking-Solace got on Nico's nerves. He constantly had to ask about everything in Nico's life and make sure that he was never injured and would make a big deal about everything. If anyone was to ask Nico if he had a crush on Will Solace he would deny it but honestly, he was lying.

"Nico how's you're ankle feeling?" Will asked, at the time Nico had sprained his ankle.
"Fine."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Need me to carry your books?"
"No-"
"Oh just let me!" Will grabbed Nico's books from his hands as Nico huffed.
"Wait, how has getting around been for you? I could maybe carry you, you're so light-"
"No! I'll be fine!"

"Oh my gosh! Nico you're bleeding!"
"It's ketchup, Solace."
"I'm not an idiot! Let's go to the infirmary, now!"
(It really was ketchup too!)

"Hey, Nico what music are you listening to?" Will asked, taking one of Nico's earbud off.
"Na Na Na by My Chemical Romance," Nico muttered putting the earbud back in.
Will took the earbud out again "What volume do you have it at?"
"All the fucking way," Nico started to put it back in but Will grabbed his arm "Nico! That's bad for you're ears! Do you want to go deaf!?"
Nico really wanted to punch Will in the face at the time. All he wanted to do was listen to music but of course Will had keep taking his earbuds out to ask questions- you don't just do that to someone unless you want to die.

Will didn't notice Nico and kept walking, then he too saw the hawks and pulled out his camera. He snapped a photo and there was a bright flash. The hawks started cawing, startled by the flash and flew away. "Oops.." Will looked around with a sheepish smile on his face then noticed Nico. His eyes widened a bit and he just shrugged his shoulders. Nico clenched his fists and stood up then walked over to Will.
"William Solace! You're an insufferable idiot!" He yelled, waving his hands up in frustration. "You just had to put the fucking flash on! It's fucking sunshine out here! Why would you need the flash on?"
"I didn't realize it was on-"
"Well one thing when it comes to taking photos always check whether or not the flash is on, you noob!"
"Sorry-"
"Yeah, well sorry won't make the hawks come back!"
"Nico calm down," Will said gently.
"I'm perfectly calm!" Nico exclaimed.
"You're really not," Will mumbled.
"What did you say?" Nico whispered.
"Nothing!"
"You better not have."

Nico sighed and sat back down by the bushes and Will came sit next to him. He has the goddamn nerve to come sit next to him after that? "Hey, Nico did you eat yet?" Will asked. "No," Nico muttered in reply.
"What?! Nico! You know how bad that is for you! You need to eat now. It's already lunch and you've eaten nothing? You should of at least eaten breakfast! It's the most important meal of the day-"
"Can you just shut up? Percy and Jason are bringing me food calm down."
"S-Sorry.."

    There was an awkward silence between the two, until Nico spoke up, "Why are you always constantly freaking out about my health. You don't obsess over everyone else's health like you do with mine."
Will blushed and mumbled something under his breath.
"What?" Nico asked.
"I like you," Will said, blushing more.
Nico blushed also with a small smile on his face "Wait, really?"
Will nodded, "Yeah."
"Well I like you too but I'm still mad at you," Nico said and crosses his arms.
Will rolled his eyes a small smile on his face. "Oh come on Nico don't you want to k-" before Will could finish Nico pressed a quick kiss on Will's lips.  He pulled away for a second to whisper a yes then Will pulled him back to his lips so they could kiss a little longer. Suddenly they heard familiar voices close by. "Hey Nico we got you a- oh."
"See Percy I told you they liked each other!" Jason exclaimed excitedly.

     Will and Nico pulled away, both were blushing multiple shades of red. "As I was saying I got you a sandwich, Nico," Percy smirked, winking at them both as he handed Nico the sandwich.
"Now, we'll leave you two alone," Jason started to walk away, pulling Percy with him.

Once Jason and Percy were out of earshot Nico grinned, "You're a pretty good kisser, Solace."
"You're not so bad yourself, di Angelo."
