Justine's POV
The following day after my engagement with Joshua, he went out with Felipe to meet with their friends who had just arrived for the Met Gala that will happen next week. Jun decided to stay in the penthouse so I went there to join him.
We were both sitting in the living room while drinking our coffee when he suddenly asked about something that I do not want to talk about.
"Justine, they are your parents. They should be present in your wedding. Are you not being unfair in hiding this important moment of your life from them?" He asked and knowingly looked at me.
I avoided his eyes and sipped my coffee from the cup.
How could I tell them about my wedding when they are so against my relationship with Joshua? I wanted to ask but chose to keep it to myself.
"Are they against him?" He asked suddenly.
I paused and looked at him in shock. I never talked about my issues with my parents regarding Joshua so I am surprised to hear him ask about them.
"Who-who's they?" I asked in an attempt to deny his suspicions.
"Are your parents against your relationship with Joshua?" He asked in confirmation.
I stared at his concerned looking face and my eyes slowly moistened with tears. I nodded in response while my lips were trembling.
He sat beside me when he saw my tears and hugged me gently. He rubbed his hands on my back, trying to calm me.
"I want them to see their son on the altar while promising his forever to someone, I really do. But Jun, they are against him because of his profession. They threatened to not see me anymore if I continue with my relationship with him. I love my parents, yes. But I love Joshua so much that I could not breathe without him." I confessed in between sobs.
"Hushed. I am sure they will understand. Do you want me to talk to them?" He asked softly.
I pulled away and shook my head in disagreement. Jun has a good relationship with them. I do not want to ruin his relationship with my parents just for me.
"Have you explained what he does? He is not just a gamer and a DJ, he is an investor and shareholder." He asked in curiosity.
"Their ears are close to any explanation I say. They want me to marry anyone that has a stable job. We are not wealthy like you or Felipe, so having a stable life is their top priority for me. But could they not see that I could provide for our family if Joshua could not." I reasoned out with a raised voice.
My grievances against my parents are resurfacing and it was making me hot in the head. I sighed to calm myself down and leaned on the recliner.
"Have you talked about Joshua regarding this?" He prompted more.
"No. I could not tell him anything about this." I replied with my eyes closed.
"Don't you think that he needs to know about this? Since he is directly involved?" He asked again.
As much as I would love to hate Jun and his prying personality, I could not deny that he was doing these for my own good. So instead of getting upset, I felt gratitude and warmth.
"I will tell him soon." I replied.
"You better do it sooner, buddy. Your wedding is around the corner." He said as a reminder of my upcoming wedding.
I nodded in agreement and thankfully he let the topic go. He proceeded in talking about the Gala and how he would be dressed as the darling of the night. He was so excited that his face was beaming and his eyes were twinkling.
