Justine's POV

"I love you." He mouthed, his eyes were welling with tears.

For some reason, I immediately understood that he was saying goodbye. I nodded and smiled at him for the last time.

Then everything happened in a split second.

I remember feeling an overwhelming pain all over my body followed by becoming dizzy. Then, I could not stop myself from succumbing into darkness.

After spending a long time in the darkness, a blinding light suddenly surrounded me and it was as if I was floating in the air. I looked around and saw my husband, our daughter in his arms, standing far from me. I tried my best in getting near them but they kept on walking away.

Then they were gone.

I turned around and around, trying to search for them. And the light suddenly faded and I was surrounded by a pitch black darkness making me blind.

My eyes were full of tears and my heart was clenching in an unimaginable pain. I would not be able to live without them and that made me cry and wallow in sorrows.

Due to the pain in my heart and feeling a sudden exhaustion, I laid on the ground, that I could not really see because of the darkness, and sobbed hard.

My eyes become heavy all of a sudden making me close them and slowly drift to a deep sleep. I was about to let myself rest and sleep forever when a very familiar voice called out for me.

"Justine, please come back to us. Joshua is still unconscious and we do not know what to do anymore." He said, his voice echoing across the void.

I feel like I heard his voice before.

I decided to ignore his voice and succumb to the endless void.

I do not know how long I was sleeping when I suddenly felt warmth all over my body. It was like I was near a bonfire or hearth with how it warmed my whole body.

"Baby, I miss you. Please remember your promise." Another voice echoed around me.

My eyes welled with tears the moment I heard that voice. My heart skipped a beat and then it beat rapidly. I was full of anticipation for the voice to echo again. I waited for a long time but it did not sound again.

I sobbed in sorrow for I was distraught and in pain.

I could not explain why I felt like I could not breathe without hearing that voice again.

"Where are you?" I called out but the silence was the only answer I got.

After a long time of wallowing in grief, I felt the warmth over my body again. I do not want to lose that source of warmth again so I grabbed whatever was in the air that's making me warm as tight as I could. Because of what I did, the warmth never left me again.

It accompanied me for a very long time. I do not know how the time passes by in this space but I feel like I have been here for a long time.

Let's grow old together, okay?

That thought suddenly crossed my mind and it brought tears to my eyes.

Where did I hear those words again?

All of a sudden, scene after scene flooded my eyes like a camera roll has been rolling at a fast forward pace.

The roll paused on the scene where I could see myself walking down a red carpeted aisle linking arms with a man.

"Let's walk properly and slowly. Let them see how happy and in love we are." He softly said with tears in his eyes.

I saw myself nodding while sobbing and smiled. He smiled back and kissed the side of my face before wiping my tears away.
