Maya kicks off her shoes as soon as she steps into her apartment. She sets her bag and coat on the nightstand near the door and trudges into the kitchen.

Maya's apartment was a small and quaint little living space. It wasn't much but it had everything Maya needed.

Maya reaches into her fridge and pulls out a Subway sandwich she bought a while ago but never ate and tosses it in the microwave. While she waits for her snack to heat up, Maya hears her cell phone ringing.

She leaves the kitchen and races into the living room for her phone. Maya smiles to herself when she sees who's on the other end. "Sup, weirdo," Maya answers jokingly.

"Maya," Riley says cheerfully. "I had a very productive day. I could write this off as a successful day in my diary."

"What did you do," Maya asks as she takes her sandwich out of the microwave.

"I went shopping."

"You always go shopping."

"With Smackle," Riley finishes.

Maya chuckles as she sinks into her sofa. "Smackle willingly went shopping with you?"

"I may or may not have forced her but those details are irrelevant," Riley says quickly.

"I disagree," Maya says. "How is she anyway?"

"She's fine," Riley responds. "She's yelling big words at me, but she's fine."

"Why don't you come over," Maya suggests with her mouth full of food. She kicks her feet up on her coffee table and constantly changes the channels on her television.

"Already on it," Riley says on the other end.

"Well, you seem happy," Zay noted when he had seen the unnaturally big grin on his friend's face.

"What are you talking about," Farkle says. "He's always happy."

"Yeah, I'm always happy," Lucas says, trying to defend his argument.

"Fine. Well, you're happier than usual," Zay decided.

Zay, Farkle, and Lucas all lived together as roommates in a small apartment. At first, it was just Farkle and Lucas living together but when Lucas found out that his long time best friend, Zay, moved from Texas to New York, Lucas convinced Farkle to let him join them. Also, they needed help to pay rent.

"What could you possibly be so happy about," Farkle asked.

The three men were in the kitchen, enjoying a few beers and each other's company when Zay noticed a certain glow on Lucas' face. Farkle sees it too and begins to ask questions.

"Oh nothing," Lucas says nonchalantly.

"Oh, I see you," Zay says excitedly. "You met someone."

"Ah, a girl perhaps," Farkle adds as if he just cracked the code.

Lucas couldn't hide the smile that was slowly forming on his lips. He took a sip of his drink to hide it but it was too late.

Zay's smile was wide. "Ooh! What's her name?"

"Is she pretty," Farkle adds in.

"She's beautiful," Lucas says dreamily. "Her name is Maya."

At the sound of her name, Penelope begins to bark excitedly. She jumps around the living room and wags her tail happily.

Lucas groans. "Penny, I literally just walked you a couple minutes ago."

"Are you planning on seeing her again," Farkle asks.

"Well, I have her phone number," Lucas says whilst taking out his phone.

"And you haven't called it yet," Zay asks, surprised.

"I don't want to seem desperate," Lucas says. "And what if she's busy?"

"Dude, women are crazy," Farkle says. "If you don't call right away, their insecurities begin to flood their precious minds."

"And they always expect the guy to make the first move," Zay adds. "And it seems you're really interested in this girl. Call her."

Lucas looks down at Maya's phone number. "Well, what do I say?"

"What do you usually say when you answer the phone," Zay says sarcastically.

"What do you want?"

"Not when one of us is calling, you idiot," Farkle exclaims. "Ok, this is getting ridiculous."

Farkle snatches Lucas' phone out of his hand, clicks on Maya's number, and presses the green button.
