II. A Fresh Horizon
Light had finally arrived in the city— Divorsuter, where prosperous buildings reached skyward and grand facilities sprawled impressively. Light found himself at the threshold of his new school— Collegium of Medeisurb, a place unlike any he had known. This was a school brimming with magic, teeming with a myriad of creatures, each possessing unique strengths and powers.
"This is incredible," Light breathed, standing before the three-meter tall doors, awe radiating from his wide eyes.
He stepped inside, the presence and atmosphere of the place both strange and awe-inspiring. A figure approached him swiftly, asking, "Are you Light?" Light nodded, surprise flickering across his face.
"How did you know my name?" he asked.
The figure, a tall young man, merely smiled and gestured for Light to follow. "I’m Heid Nicholas Heinvere, part of the school counselor here. I know your name because we receive the enrollment forms and are tasked with welcoming new students," Heid explained, his smile warm and reassuring.
Light nodded and smiled back. "I see," he said.
"You have a beautiful smile," Heid noted with a return smile. "Since you’re new here, would you like me to show you around?"
"Sure, that sounds great," Light replied.
As they walked through the halls, Heid couldn’t help but glance at Light. Light noticed and asked, "Why are you looking at me? Is there something on my face?"
"Oh, sorry," Heid said, a bit flustered. "I was just distracted by something." Heid was in fact, distracted by light, it's from Light."By the way, I'm a blood demon, and judging by your surname, you're a crow, right?"
Light nodded. "A blood demon, huh?" he mused aloud.
They arrived at the library— Liberio de Majicae, a grand expanse of towering bookshelves and cozy nooks. Heid led Light inside and began introducing him to the vast collection. Light's eyes widened in wonder as he took in the organized shelves, the towering stacks, and the warm, inviting scent of aged paper and polished wood.
"This is my favorite place," Heid revealed. "I might not be like other blood demons, but here, I find peace."
Light chuckled. "I never thought a blood demon's favorite place would be a library," he said with a smile. "It's... cute."
Heid returned the smile, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. The library seemed to glow a bit brighter, its magic intertwined with the budding friendship between the two young men. As they continued to explore, Light realized that this school, filled with diverse and powerful beings, might just be the perfect place for him to discover his own strength and purpose.
