XXII. The Icy Waters
At the base of the mountain, Heid was on high alert. The dark figure that had appeared was growing more menacing. The figure’s hooded face remained hidden, but the aura around them was chilling.
“You’re not getting past me,” Heid said firmly, his blood magic flaring as he prepared for a confrontation.
“Unfortunately, I don't want you, I want your friend, Caerus Divinus-Celeste” The mysterious figure finally removed his hood. An icy cold aura appear surrounding his body, it was, after all, The Embodiment of Ice, Glacius Frostbane, one of the Descendants Forces of the Elementals, an Elementalist.
Heid was shocked. “That can’t be... but again, you're not getting past me, I'll protect Light” Heid confidently said.
Heid attacked, releasing blood orbs simultaneously. But every orbs was freezed, a liquid, after all. Heid realized that they're just complementary magics. He, who can liquidize an ice, by transforming it to blood, while Glacius, who can freeze any form of liquid.
Glacius attacked, throwing ice blocks, but Heid counter it with his temperature manipulation, he melted it.
“What was that?” Glacius, has a cold demeanor, was shocked, badly.
“What is happening here?... Glacius, you seems losing” someone appear, a feminine figure stepped in after them. Aqualis Tideweaver joined them, The Embodiment of Water.
As Aqualis Tideweaver, the Embodiment of Water, joined Glacius, the air grew heavy with elemental power. Heid’s eyes darted between the two, calculating his next move. His blood magic had proven effective, but with both Water and Ice working in tandem, he knew he needed more than just strategy—he needed power.
He took a deep breath, feeling the familiar pull of his blood magic inside him. But this time, he didn’t stop at the surface level of his abilities. He could feel something darker, more ancient stirring within him—a primal force that had been dormant, waiting for the right moment. It was now or never.
“I won't let you take him,” Heid said, his voice lower and more guttural as his power surged.
He focused inward, allowing the dark abyss of his magic to surface. His once-red blood magic morphed into a swirling black mass, thick and overwhelming. Heid’s body convulsed as he allowed the transformation to take hold, embracing his Primal Abyssal Demon form. Horns emerged from his forehead, sharp and black as night, while shadowy wings unfolded from his back, and a dark aura enveloped his entire being. His eyes glowed a deep, malevolent crimson.
The temperature around them plummeted, but this time, Heid felt no chill. He had become a living embodiment of the abyss, immune to the elemental forces that stood before him.
The battle intensifies.
Glacius was the first to act, hurling massive spikes of ice toward Heid, each one sharper than the last. But Heid, now in his primal form, didn’t even flinch. With a wave of his hand, the ice spikes dissolved into black mist before they even reached him.
“You’re no match for me now,” Heid said, his voice reverberating with power.
Aqualis, seeing the sudden shift in Heid’s power, summoned a tidal wave from the ground, intending to drown him in a torrent of water. The wave crashed down toward Heid, but he raised a single hand, and the water froze mid-air. He had not only manipulated the temperature but had seized control of the water itself—tainting it with the darkness of his abyssal power.
With a flick of his wrist, Heid sent the frozen tidal wave crashing toward Glacius and Aqualis. Glacius tried to reinforce the ice, but even his mastery of cold couldn’t withstand the sheer force of Heid’s newly awakened abilities. The frozen wave shattered on impact, sending shards of corrupted ice scattering across the battlefield.
Realizing that brute force wasn’t enough, Heid turned to a more subtle approach. He summoned black tendrils of abyssal energy that slithered across the ground like living shadows. These tendrils sought out the elemental forces within Glacius and Aqualis, draining their strength and corrupting their elemental control.
Glacius tried to freeze the tendrils, but they reformed just as quickly as they were shattered. Aqualis attempted to drown them in water, but the tendrils absorbed the moisture, growing stronger with each drop.
“You thought you could fight me with elements alone,” Heid said, his voice carrying a cold edge. “But now, you face the abyss itself.”
In a sudden burst of speed, Heid dashed toward Glacius, his wings propelling him faster than the Elementalist of Ice could react. He struck with a barrage of blows, each one enhanced by his abyssal power. Glacius tried to counter with an ice shield, but Heid’s fists shattered the ice with ease. With one final punch, Heid sent Glacius crashing into the ground, leaving him stunned and weakened.
Before Aqualis could intervene, Heid turned his attention to her. He summoned an orb of pure abyssal energy in his palm, its black surface swirling with malevolent power. He hurled it toward Aqualis, and though she tried to counter with a wall of water, the orb exploded on impact, sending shockwaves through the air. Aqualis was thrown backward, her water magic disrupted by the force of Heid’s attack.
As Aqualis struggled to regain her footing, Heid moved with unrelenting speed. He grabbed her by the throat, his eyes glowing with an eerie crimson light. His shadowy wings unfurled, and the darkness around him grew even thicker.
“You two might be the embodiment of the elements, but I am the embodiment of something far older,” Heid growled. “I am the abyss.”
With a final surge of power, Heid unleashed his abyssal magic, pouring it into both Glacius and Aqualis. The two Elementalists were engulfed in the dark energy, their elemental forces overwhelmed by the primal, consuming force of Heid’s abyssal form.
The ground trembled beneath them as the darkness spread, swallowing the area in a void of shadow. The once-menacing Elementalists now struggled to maintain their forms, their elemental powers drained by the relentless abyssal magic. In a matter of moments, both Glacius and Aqualis fell to their knees, utterly defeated
Heid released his grip on Aqualis, letting her crumple to the ground beside Glacius. He hovered in the air for a moment, his wings casting long shadows over the fallen Elementalists.
“This is your warning,” Heid said, his voice echoing through the darkness. “Come after Caerus again, and you’ll face the full fury of the abyss.”
