Kennedy's Early Childhood Education center
I crouched down and fixed Kacey's backpack on his back "Okay baby give mommy kisses."
"Mommy.." his little voice groaned
"You're going to hurt mommy's feelings." I pretend pout well mostly pretend.
He had been in pre school for 2 weeks now. His first day he didn't want to go but everyday after I could barely get a goodbye kiss from him.
He leaned in and kissed my cheek quickly before running to his line.
I stood nearby with the rest of the waiting parents for the bell to ring and their teachers to come out. When the bell rang I watched him walk in the building in the single file line the children were lined up in then made my way to my car.
I was on my way to the work when my phone rang from the stero. I looked at the caller ID nervously before letting out a breath of fresh air.
After I gave her my number my heart was dropping to my ass every time my phone rang.
"Hey babe." Jesse spoke into the phone as soon as I picked up.
"Hey Babe." I said back as my nerves soothed.
"What time you getting off today? I wanna take you and Kacey out for ice cream at the new place that just opened."
"I should be off around 3:15 ish"
"Okay so I'll pick you both up around 4:30-5 ? We can swing by the park then hit the ice cream parlor after."
"Alright I'll let you know when we're ready."
"Okay have a good day at work beautiful."
"Thank you baby." I say before hanging up.
Jesse was literally the perfect man. We had been dating for almost 8 months now. He was sweet and charming, took his time with me and understanding that Kacey always came first.
He even started playing catch with Kacey most weekends even though Kacey didn't care for it much. I didn't mind it because he never overstepped or crossed certain boundaries.
I pulled up to work feeling a bit better and less worried. My work day wasn't too stressful I clocked in did my job and clocked the hell out. Once my baby started pre school I adjusted my hours so that I would always be able to drop him off and pick him up on time at 3:45.
When I picked him up he was more excited to see me than he was this morning. He told me about his day and how he made a necklace with noodles.
When we got home I changed him out of school clothes and made him put on some play clothes. I texted Jesse saying he could come and pick us up and he literally showed up 15 minutes later.
We drove to a park in the neighborhood and him and Kam played catch for every bit of 5 minutes until Kam was over it. Instead he made his way over to the play ground and I sat on a nearby bench to watch him.
"So babe I've been thinking, we've been exclusive for almost a year now and I was thinking... how would you feel about having a key to my place."
"Jesse that's a pretty big step.."
"I'm not saying move in or anything like that and you don't have to give me a key either, I just wanted to give you one."
"When would I even use it?"
