Finley had agreed to walk with Doris friends, though he Koi and Elliot stayed in the back. Delphine would awkwardly try to start a conversation, but only Dori and Finley would respond. Finley wasn't really responding, though, because he was staring at an atlas to find where the next stop would be. Delphine sighed. "I-" She started but Finley interrupted her. "There!" He yelled, pointing forward.
"Are you sure that's it....?" Pinetree said slowly. Finley looked up, and saw he where he was pointing to. A small wooden shack with a splintered sign that read, "The Rusty Rat."
Koi shrugged. "I don't care if it's a shack called a Rusty Rat," Koi said. "I'm thirsty as Mercy!"
"Language," Dori muttered, smiling. Koi smiled back. They had finally found each other after so long.
Poptart waved her battle axe. "I can make some...renovations," She said creepily.
"I think it's fine, Poptart," Finley said nervously. The weird little elf slowly smiled. They all shuddered.
Finley walked up to the door, slowly pushing it open.
The bar was pretty much empty besides a tan, blonde, freckled, boy with one large hoop earring cleaning the counter about Finley and Elliot's age, maybe a little bit older. The boy looked up and started at them sourly. "What do you..." He stared at them as if he was counting them. "Whatever amount twerps want?" He decided to give up. "Who are you?" Koi asked.
"I'm Scorpion and I'll be your server today, and the only server here. And trust me, I will enjoy this even less than you will." He said bitterly.
"I'm Eden," Eden said, smiling and friendly.
"Sorry, I'm blanking out. When did I ask you again?" Scorpion said, rummaging through a shelf of dark bottles with faded parchment labels. They clinked together as he sorted them atop a tiny ladder.
"Yeesh," Eden said. "What a grump."
"Don't think I won't forgive you." Koi said to her.
"You'll have plenty of time to yap when you're at the table." Scorpion snarled.
"Can you stop?" Eden mumbled. "He is really rude," She said to Cornid, she nodded back.
"Oh, little old me?" Scorpion said. "I'm flattered."
He and Eden shared angry stares for a second before Elliott cut in.
"Well this has been...something," Elliott muttered. "Can we just be seated?"
"I dunno, CAN YOU?" Scorpion said angrily.
"Chill," Delphine said.
"Sorry, we don't serve cold drinks here," Scorpion said, smiling sarcastically.
"Where's our table?" Eden said.
"Anywhere, sweetie," Scorpion said. "I don't care where in Mercy you sit as long as you plan on leaving at some point."
"I can understand why nobody comes here," Eden snapped right back.
"You're so funny," Scorpion said sarcastically. "Shoo, before I get the broom."
Scorpion continued cleaning the counter.
"What a jerk," Koi muttered as they all sat down.
"I know," Delphine said, joining in the conversation. Everything went silent as Koi stared at her coldly.
"ANYway," Finley rolled his eyes. "What do you guys plan on ordering here?"
"The least poisonous thing," Eden said loudly.
"Sorry, we don't serve that," Scorpion yelled from the back, where the ingredients were stored.
"Can you all stop fighting?" Pinetree rolled his eyes. "It's annoying everyone."
"If Scorpion the jerk is included in 'everyone', I've reached my goal." Eden said, crossing her arms. "It's kinda cute too.." Said Dori.
"That's so sweet of you, Edith," Scorpion said sarcastically from the back.
"IT'S EDEN!" Eden shrieked, pounding a fist against the table.
Pinetree adjusted his sleeve. "Come on," He said. "Is it that hard to just make peace?"
"I'll make peace when Scorpion makes something edible." Eden said, but Scorpion didn't hear and there was no reply this time. Her face fell a little.
Finley turned back to say something, but his eyes accidentally locked with Koi's, and he turned around again.
"Maybe...Scorpion should come with us?" Pinetree suggested, shrugging nervously and speaking slowly as if he was barely resisting the urge to flinch away.
"I would love to," Scorpion said sarcastically, looking Pinetree up and down. "Because, of course, I have nothing to attend and no bars to clean, and time to listen to a short little elf who can't tell me his order to save his life." He said. Eden looked up hopefully, "Like, actually?" She asked. "Of course not!" Delphine said, everybody looked at her, "How would a normal human help us on this?" She asked as if it was obviouse. Finley and Elliot looked at her, "I mean the prophacey is about y'all." She added. Scorpian came over with a tray of nine iced waters, after passing them out he leaned his elbows onto the table. "Normal human." He said with a grin, "I just now realized it's not sandy enough in here for you to have noticed," He said, shaking his head. Everybody looked at him with confution. "Ah," He said lifting his head, "You all don't know what I am." He chuckled, His attitude made him sound alot older than he actualy was. "Well, telll us already!" Delphine siad gesturing her hand in a circle. "I'm a Desert Warlock." He said. "Oh! oh," Finley said, "Ive read about you guys. You're like Warlocks with full control over sand."He said, Scorpian nodded. "I guess we could bring him with us." Delphine grumbled. "Yay!" Scorpian said, in a high, mocking voice.
"Where to now?" Dori asked, piering into Finleys atlas, "Oh no, we aren't leaving yet." Scorpian said, "FROST!" he yelled into the back. "NO!" another voice yelled, "I'M LEAVING!" Scorpian shouted back, that comment was followed with a series of bangs and crashes, when a messed up boy stubbled through the doors from the bar. He quickley brushed his slightly lighter blonde hair out of his face. This boy was a lot paler than Scorpion, a bit shorter, and had less of an attitude.
This is my brother Frost." Scorpian said, gesuring towards the boy. Frost waved at them.
"What's up with these two?" Scorpian asked pointing at Delphine and Koi, "Delphine is a werewolf and bit Koi." Dori said. Scorpion nodded, "And the redhead, and the one with all the books?" He asked, "I dunno, asked them." Dori answered. Koi blushed, and looked at his feet. "What's up with you two?" Scorpian asked Koi. Koi looked up and thought for a moment, "I honestley don't know." He answered.
