I woke up the next morning on Ransom's couch...with Ransom. I looked and I was in the clothes I wore to his house, and I groaned happy to see I was still dressed. Ransom's arm was draped over me, and I sighed. I easily got off his couch and gathered my stuff and ordered a car to come pick me up. Luckily one was close. Once the car arrived, I walked outside, got in and let it take me home.
Once I got home, I quickly took a shower and tried to remember the events from the night before. I knew I told Ransom to kiss me, why did I tell him to kiss me?! Did I want to know what it felt like...maybe. Ransom and I had always skated this line. The tension was always there whether it be regular or even sexual, but it was always there. The problem was though, I knew how Ransom could be with people he dated, and I didn't want to be another notch on his bedpost. Something told me Ransom loved the chase with me and once it was done and he would be done, yet there I would be sitting hurt and used. I was just trying to stop the heartbreak and bad ending now before it could even start.
I got out of the shower, got dressed and headed downstairs after braiding my hair. I went to the kitchen to make grandma and I some breakfast, but she was already sitting at the table...with my dad.
"Morning." I said.
"Just getting in?" Peter asked and I sighed.
"Nope, had enough time to shower first." I said motioning to my wet hair.
"Well, I never thought I would have to have this talk with my grown daughter about the safety of being out all night." Peter said and I groaned.
"Oh, Peter stop, she was safe. She was out with Ransom Drysdale all night." Gerdy said and I looked at her with big eyes.
"Grandma! How do you know." I said and Peter looked at me.
"I saw you and him leave together." Gerdy said.
"Ransom Drysdale?!" Peter asked and I groaned as I poured myself a cup of coffee.
"It wasn't like that..." I explained.
"Then please explain it. You say you can't stand Ransom but you have been constantly linked to him." Peter said and I groaned.
"Oh, Blood Like Wine is publishing her book." Gerdy said and I looked at her as she was spilling all my secrets.
"Really?! That's amazing!" Peter said getting up and hugging me.
"Under a pen name." I said.
"Why?" Peter asked.
"So, Harlan doesn't know it's her. She wants it kept a secret like her sequel she is writing to Midnight in Wilmington. Which happens to be the book she is having published." Gerdy said and I shook my head.
"Ransom took over publishing my book since he knows it's mine and is the go between for Harlan and me. Last night he took me to dinner to celebrate being published. Since I didn't want to be seen with him, we had Chinese take-out at his place and then watched a movie. I must had fallen asleep during the movie because that's where I woke up." I said and Peter sighed.
"Nothing else happened?" Peter asked and I thought back on the kiss but shook my head.
"Nope, nothing." I said as my cellphone went off with a text. I pulled it from my pocket and sighed.
"Problem?" Peter asked.
"No, just an annoyance." I said and put my coffee mug in the sink and walked away.
Ransom: So, sneaking out is your thing.
Mags: I woke up and left Ransom, I didn't sneak out.
Ransom: You didn't tell me you were leaving, got a car and left. That's called sneaking out.
Mags: Fine I snuck out. What's it matter?
Ransom: Because maybe I wanted to talk about that kiss. After it happened you shut me up and we didn't talk about it. We need to talk Mags.
Mags: 2 people kissed Ransom, not the end of the world.
Ransom: It wasn't 2 random people Mags, it was us.
Mags: Ransom, stop! It happened, we kissed, it's over. I'm going work now. Someone told his grandfather a book was going to have a sequel.
Before Ransom could reply I turned my phone off and sat at my computer. I put my earbuds in and got to writing. I didn't notice the knocking on my apartment door that was connected in the house. The door opened and someone came walking in. They walked in behind me and touched my shoulder causing me to scream. I ripped my earbuds out and turned around to see Ransom hysterically laughing.
"What the fuck Drysdale?!" I yelled as he laughed. I got up and shoved him.
"Sorry sweetheart, I was knocking, and you didn't hear so your grandmother gave me a key." Ransom said holding up the key and I took it from him.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I brought Harlan for coffee day, and you aren't answering my texts." Ransom said and I groaned showing him my phone was off.
"That would be why." Ransom said and I nodded. I set my phone back on my desk.
I then smirked, looked at Ransom, "Were you worried about me?" Ransom groaned and looked at the floor.
"No..." He said and I smirked.
"I think you were." I said and he sighed. I moved closer to him.
"Ransom...were you worried?" I asked and he looked up at me and quickly gripped me by the back of my head pulling my lips to his. I moaned as his tongue fought for entrance which I allowed him to have. This kiss was a lot more forceful than our original kiss, this was a true Ransom kiss, and I liked it.
I pushed his coat off of him and then guided him back to my couch pushing him down. Our lips disconnected as he fell down on the couch. I smiled at him, quickly straddled him and crashed my lips back to his. He grabbed my hips, and I placed my hands around his neck and gripped his hair causing him to groan. He thrusted his hips upward and I moaned in the kiss. I barely parted our lips.
"Play fair Ransom." I breathlessly said and he smiled at me shaking his head.
"I never play fair sweetheart." Ransom said crashing his lips back on mine. We made out for a few more minutes when we both felt his phone start vibrating in his pocket. He tried ignoring it at first, but it just kept vibrating.
"Someone better be dying." Ransom said pulled out his phone.
"Hello?" Ransom answered and I took the advantage to start kissing Ransom's neck and he smacked my ass, but I didn't stop. "Mom...what do you need..." Ransom said and thinking I would stop but I didn't. He gripped my braid and pulled my lips from his neck and looked at me and I smiled. "Okay...be there soon." Ransom said and hung up. He went to kiss me again and I went to get off his lap.
"Oh no we aren't done here." Ransom said gripping my hips and I nodded.
"I think we are, your mother needs you." I said and Ransom held my hips on him and made me grind on him. I felt him hard in his pants which cause me to bite back a moan.
"I need you more Mags." Ransom said causing me to sigh.
"Not happening Drysdale." I said getting up. Ransom got up after me and sighed.
"Mags..." Ransom said, and I shook his head.
"We made out Ransom. It means nothing." I said and he groaned, grabbing my wrist and pulling me to him.
"Why can't it mean something for us? You want me and I want you." Ransom said and I shook my head.
"You're mistaken Drysdale, I don't want you." I said and he growled. He passionately kissed me, and I moaned in the kiss. When we broke apart, he looked at me smiling.
"Your moans and kisses say something different sweetheart." Ransom said. He picked up his coat and walked back to the door.
"I will be back to get Harlan once I'm done with my mom." Ransom said and left. Once he was done, I fell on my couch groaning in annoyance.
