Making my way to nowhere
I walked down a quiet street in
The middle of the night,
There was an elderly man
Ancient and weary with age
About his garden in spite of his blindness,
So I asked why he troubled himself,
Why not wait till tomorrow?
"Tomorrow already left with my wife," he replied, "I might as well live for now. Who knows when it is time."Making my way to nowhere
I made my way into a desolate place,
In the middle of the night,
There was an incomplete cottage with a man building it up,
He seemed strong but tired
Thirsty yet never stopped to drink water,
So I asked why not take a break?
Five minutes never killed anyone.
"Five minutes is all I need," he replied, "Five minutes is all I have. Why waste it and not build upon it."Making my way to nowhere
I made my way to a hospital ward
In the middle of the night,
There was a young patient
Staring at the empty ceiling,
So I asked why stare at the ceiling
When there is nothing to look at?
Why not rest?
"Why rest with the dead while I am still alive?" She replied, "I am trying to remember the stars in the sky and recreate a sky of my own."Making my way to nowhere
I made my way to a floral shop
In the middle of the night,
There I saw a man purchase red roses with a sentimental smile on his face,
So I asked who the roses are for,
Why buy them?
"For my wife," he replied, "Just to show her she is not alone. For when she smiles at me the sun loses its radiance."Making my way to nowhere
I made my way to a family home
In the middle of the night,
There I saw a overwhelmed mother and wife cooking with a crying baby,
So I asked why get married to suffer like this?
Was it worth it?
"Love gives more than it takes," she replied, "They will be those you will move mountains for. I am moving mountains so they will thrive on what I give them."Making my way to nowhere
I made my way to a party
In the middle of the night,
There I saw a young youth drunk and wasted out of her wits,
So I asked, why drink when you cannot hold it down?
"Why not?" She replied, "What else is there to life but learning from mistakes. For when I am older
I will remember only this."I made my way to somewhere
I place where no one knows,
I sat in my thoughts,
I thought of the elderly man full of wisdom and loss,
The builder who pereserves in struggle,
The sickly girl who dreams for more in spite of reality,
The loving husband who lives for his wife and gives her the world,
The mother and wife who cares for her family and gives them her heart,
The party girl who thinks of no tomorrow and nothing else.
Different people, different lives
Yet somehow all the same,
I smiled
