Chapter 4
"How did we miss that?"
"Oh I don't know, Sunny, maybe because it's a gosh dam island in the sky."
Sun rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. A little irritated by the bots comeback. After a few seconds, He glanced at the other Solar bot. Who was looking up thoughtfully. His eyes narrowed in consecration. Which made Suns gaze soften. He let his arms hang as he also looked up.
"Any ideas on how to get up there?" Sun asked.
"Does your magic work here?"
"Um, I'd like to hope so."
"How good are you of teleportation? That is a spell Moon has taught you, right?" Solar asked, taking his gaze away to look at Sun.
"Ummmmm. Shaky at best. Why-," Sun drifted off as he realized Solars plan, his eyes wide, "you want me to use my magic to get us up there?!"
"Well, you got a better idea," Solar rose a brow, "it's our best option or would you rather keep walking in the fields."
Sun opened his mouth to speak, but closed it with a defeated sigh. Solar was of course right. The islands were their best shot to finding a portal back.
"But what if I miss shoot the distance? I've only practiced the spell a couple times."
"Well then we fall to our deaths."
"Not helping!"
Solar let out a chuckle, "I'm kidding! You'll do fine, Sunny. I wouldn't have suggested it if I didn't think you could do it."
That made Sun pout, but he had a small smile as he straightened his posture. Turning to look at the islands.
"We'll have to calculate for the win-,"Solar let out a small squeak as he was pulled flesh against Suns chest. An arm holding him firmly for several seconds.Sun snaking an arm around the back of his legs and held the Eclipse bridal style.
Solars gaze snapped to look at Sun, lost for words as he found himself studying the other's expression.
Suns held a look of concentration Solar only saw on Moon while he was tinkering. It looked surreal on his best friend's twin. He felt his glow click on. Surprising the Eclipse as he hurriedly turned it off. Shaking his head slightly as he felt his chest casing tighten underneath.
Solar suddenly felt Suns grip tighten as he blinked. Having to clutch onto the other as he felt the wind hit him with the force of a truck.
Sun had teleported them above the sky islands, letting them free fall towards the island below.
A ping of fear raced through him as he shut his eyes, clutching on for dear life.
"SUN!?"
Sun snapped his gaze around, looking for potential landing zones as he felt Solar clutch onto him. His mind picking one before his eyes as he chanted the spell in his head. Teleporting inches from the ground.
"Fuck!!" Sun cursed, hissing in pain as his legs quickly came into contact with the ground. Sun threw himself onto his side, wrapping an arm around Solars middle as his back slid painfully against dirt to a halt.
Solars mechanical heart raced in his casing as he lay on-top of the other. Suns arm keeping him locked into the embrace as his own arms were trapped under Sun. Pinched painfully to the ground.
"That was a hella landing," Sun commented, making the other let out a dry laugh, "you ok Solar?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. What about you? That couldn't have been good on your legs,"Solar tried to shimmy his arms from under Sun, gently tugging till the other leaned up.
He pushed himself up, gently rubbing his scratched arm casing. Sun let his arm fall as Solar sat up, sitting up himself as he angled his face to look at him. The Sun animatronic scanned the other's expression, the pinkish highlights looking disapprovingly at the scratches and scuffs they both received. Sun also saw a glint of inner panic in Solar start to emerge. His eye-lights scanning him quickly as his hands twitched nervously.
Making him frown as something in Suns chest sank. The feeling Growing quickly uncomfortable as he gently took solars arms. Gently guiding them to his lap. The other flinched, his gaze snapping to him.
"Stop it. I can see you starting to worry. I'm ok," Sun soothed, "we're alive. That's all that matters."
Solars eyes widened as he watched Sun gently rub his arms. Had the panic welling in his chest that obvious? Or was Sun actually more observant than he thought?
Solar let out a sigh, trying to will his body to relax. After the initial shock of the crash landing, Solar had felt his chest tighten as he looked over the other. His own pain small compared to what he thought Sun was going through. Sun had landed directly on his knees before rolling himself on his side. Making sure to shield Solar the best he could.
He looked at Suns small smile. His expression a bit stiff from withholding the discomfort of the sting in his legs. Putting on a brave face for Solar's sake. Which is when he realized how close they actually wore. He was sitting in Suns lap as Sun tilted his head to look up at him. Their faceplates a few inches apart as Sun didn't make a move to move him.
His glow clicked on faintly as gently slipped his arms from Suns hands and slipped off his lap. Sitting on his knees beside him to focus on the others legs.
"Y-yes! Right, um. D-do you feel any pain or discomfort," Solar stuttered, making Sun chuckle.
"Only pain felt is yours with how much I've made your glow click on in the past 10 or so minutes."
Solar let himself choke as he tore his face away from scanning Suns injuries. If Solar hasn't guessed it, his glow was even more intense as he sent a playful glare at the other's smug expression.
"S-shut it! It has not!" Solar defended weakly, trying to cover it by his arm.
"Oh? Then why are you hiding," Sun teased, gently pointing towards him.
"N-not...Shut up." Solar grumbled and a bit forcefully pressed Suns knees with his palm.
Sun let out a whine as his body visibly stiffened.
"Ok ok ok, I'll kneel," Sun replied grimaced with pain.
Solar bit his cheek as he fought off a small satisfied grin. On his second approach, he was more gentle as he prodded and poked. Getting a feeling of how damaged each knee joint was.
"I'm gonna have to replace them both. They're cracked through. So you unfortunately can't walk till I can take them off and fix it."
"Ahh, great. I'm crippled," Sun sighed, "fuck."
"I'll have to carry you," Solar said as he shifted to his feet.
"You can carry me?"
"What? Do you think all those modifications moon helped me with were for nothing?" Solar turned his back to the Sun animatronic, "come on. The Suns going down and we better get moving incase this island has more than just grain."
Sun gently lifted himself up with Solars shoulders. Solar reached and gently tugged Suns legs so he was in a piggyback position. Standing up, he shifted so Sun would be comfortable before heading down the wooden bridge that lead towards the rest of the island. Sun let his arms hang loosely around Solars neck, gently nestling his head on his shoulder as his eyes started to drop.
His body felt heavy as he relaxed against Solar. He was exhausted from the intense pressure on his magic to get them safely to their destination. He didn't even want to check what his battery was at. Having came from a shift at the daycare and sprung on this adventure. He just wanted them to be home and around their family for game night.☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑☀️🌑
