The school auditorium was filled with the sounds of music and laughter as Class 1-A wrapped up their band rehearsal. Jirou strummed her guitar effortlessly, her fingers dancing over the strings while the rest of the class chimed in with their instruments. Y/N sat off to the side, watching her with rapt attention, mesmerized by how Jirou seemed to pour her heart into every note.

"Alright, great job, everyone!" Iida's voice cut through the chatter, and the class began to disperse. "Remember to practice for next week's performance. You're all dismissed."

As the noise of the rehearsal faded, Y/N's heart raced. She knew the undeniable chemistry between her and Jirou was reaching a boiling point, and every rehearsal only heightened her anxiety.

"Hey," Jirou said, her voice low as she approached Y/N. "You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Y/N replied quickly, trying to shake off the nerves that threatened to surface.

Jirou raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "You sure? You've been a bit quiet today."

"I'm just... thinking about everything," Y/N admitted, her gaze shifting to the ground. "School, life... and, well, you know."

"About us?" Jirou asked, stepping a bit closer, the atmosphere around them thickening with tension.

Y/N nodded, her heart pounding louder than ever. "I can't stop thinking about how close we've gotten, Jirou. It feels so... intense."

"Intense is one way to put it," Jirou replied, her voice teasing yet serious. "You know, it doesn't have to be complicated."

"Yeah, but it is," Y/N countered, feeling a wave of panic wash over her. "I'm still with my boyfriend, and I don't want to hurt him. But then there's you, and it's like... I can't ignore how I feel."

Jirou's expression softened. "Y/N, I get it. It's a mess, but I can't help how I feel about you either. It's like I'm drawn to you."

The tension hung thick in the air as they stared at each other, the unspoken words lingering between them. Y/N felt her heart race, her breath quickening as she took a step closer to Jirou.

"Maybe we should talk about this," Jirou suggested, her gaze steady and unwavering.

"Yeah, maybe..." Y/N started, but before she could finish, she felt a surge of panic rise within her. "I don't know, Jirou. This is all so confusing."

"Hey, we don't have to rush anything," Jirou reassured her, reaching out to touch Y/N's arm lightly. The warmth of Jirou's touch sent a jolt through Y/N, igniting her every nerve.

Just then, Jirou's bandmates began to clean up around them, laughter filling the air as they joked and chatted. It created a bubble of noise around Y/N and Jirou, but inside, everything felt silent, focused solely on the two of them.

"Maybe we could just-" Jirou started, her voice barely a whisper.

But Y/N's heart raced too fast, and in a sudden burst of impulse, she pulled away, shaking her head. "I can't do this!"

"Y/N, wait-" Jirou began, but Y/N turned on her heel, rushing out of the auditorium before she could hear the rest of what Jirou had to say.

The cool air hit Y/N like a slap in the face as she stepped outside, her heart pounding violently in her chest. She leaned against the wall, trying to calm her racing heart. What had she just done?

She was in deep trouble.

The adrenaline coursed through her veins as she realized how close she had come to crossing a line she wasn't sure she was ready to cross. Every moment spent with Jirou had felt electrifying, but now that she had almost kissed her, it was as if the reality of her situation hit her like a freight train.

"Y/N?" a voice called from behind her, breaking her thoughts. It was Jirou, her expression a mix of concern and determination as she approached.

"I-I'm sorry," Y/N stammered, not meeting Jirou's gaze. "I just panicked. I shouldn't have run away like that."

Jirou took a step closer, her voice steady. "You don't have to apologize. I get it. This is a lot to process."

"Right, but..." Y/N took a deep breath, forcing herself to look up at Jirou. "I can't keep pretending that everything is okay with my boyfriend when it's not. But you... you make me feel things I didn't think I could feel."

"And that scares you?" Jirou asked softly.

"Yeah," Y/N admitted, her voice shaking. "I feel like I'm being pulled in two different directions, and I don't want to hurt anyone."

Jirou nodded, her expression softening. "I don't want to hurt you either. But we can't keep pretending there isn't something between us."

"Then what do we do?" Y/N asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"We take it one step at a time," Jirou replied, her gaze unwavering. "I'm not here to pressure you, but I also can't ignore how I feel about you."

Y/N's heart ached at the sincerity in Jirou's words. "What if I mess this up?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"As I said before, we'll figure it out together," Jirou reassured her, taking another step closer, their faces inches apart. "I just want to be honest with you about how I feel. You deserve that."

Y/N felt a warmth flood through her at Jirou's confession, a flicker of hope igniting within her. "I want to be honest too. I want to explore this, but I need to make sure I'm ready."

"Take all the time you need," Jirou said, a small smile breaking through the tension. "Just promise me that you'll talk to me when you're ready."

"I promise," Y/N said, her heart racing at the thought of what could be.

Jirou reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair behind Y/N's ear, her touch sending butterflies swirling in Y/N's stomach. "Just know that I'm here, no matter what."

The moment stretched between them, the air thick with unspoken possibilities. Y/N felt drawn to Jirou, the tension between them building once again. But just as she began to lean into the moment, doubt flooded back in, reminding her of the messiness of her current relationship.

"Jirou, I... I can't right now," Y/N said, stepping back, her heart aching.

"Okay," Jirou replied, her expression understanding but tinged with disappointment. "Just know that I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here when you're ready."

Y/N nodded, feeling the weight of Jirou's words settle in her heart. She turned to leave, but not before catching one last glimpse of Jirou's pained yet hopeful expression.

As she walked away, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that she was in deep trouble. But at the same time, a flicker of excitement ignited within her, reminding her that some troubles were worth exploring.
