The fluorescent lights of the cafeteria buzzed overhead, casting an unflattering glow on the half-eaten meals scattered across the tables. Y/N sat at a corner table with her boyfriend, Akashi, who was scrolling through his phone instead of engaging in conversation.

She poked at her food, trying to summon the appetite that had vanished along with her enthusiasm for their relationship.

Akashi had asked Y/N to join him for lunch, but if he kept wasting time scrolling through his phone, she might lose her patience.

A few minutes had gone by, and Akashi still hadn't put his phone down.

And just like that, Y/N's patience was long gone.

"Are you even listening to me?" Y/N finally snapped, her frustration boiling over.

Akashi looked up, a faint expression of surprise on his face. "What? Yeah, I'm listening. Just... busy."

"Busy with what?" Y/N asked, her voice rising slightly. "You've been distant lately, and I feel like I'm talking to a wall."

Akashi sighed, putting his phone down. "Look, Y/N, it's been a tough week. You know that. I'm just trying to get through finals."

"Trying? You mean not trying," Y/N shot back. "You're so wrapped up in your own world that you've forgotten about me! We barely even talk anymore."

He rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair. "It's not like I'm ignoring you on purpose. I've just got a lot going on, okay?"

"Sure, but it shouldn't come at the cost of our relationship," Y/N said, her voice trembling with pent-up emotion. "I don't even recognize us anymore."

"What do you want me to say? That I'll drop everything for you?" Keita retorted, his tone defensive. "I'm busy trying to get into a good college. You should understand that."

Y/N felt a knot tighten in her stomach. "I do understand, but I can't keep pretending everything is fine when it's not. You're pulling away, and I feel like I'm the only one trying to hold this together."

"Maybe you're overreacting," Akashi said dismissively, crossing his arms over his chest.

Y/N's heart sank at his words. "Overreacting? Akashi, I've tried to talk to you about this multiple times. You can't keep brushing me off!"

"Maybe we just need some space," he replied, standing up and grabbing his backpack. "I need to focus on my studies."

As he walked away, Y/N felt a wave of hurt and anger wash over her. She was left alone at the table, surrounded by laughter and conversation, feeling utterly lost. Her heart felt like it had shattered, the realization that she no longer wanted to be in this relationship settling like a heavy weight in her chest.

That night, Y/N tossed and turned in her bed, her mind racing. She thought about the argument with Akashi, the way he seemed more interested in his phone than in her. Their relationship had once been filled with laughter and warmth, but now it felt cold and distant. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that her heart wasn't in it anymore.

But her thoughts drifted to Jirou, the warmth of her smile, the way her eyes sparkled with mischief, and the undeniable connection they shared. The memory of their almost-kiss lingered in Y/N's mind, igniting a flame of desire that she couldn't extinguish.

Before she knew it, Y/N found herself getting out of bed, a reckless determination surging through her. She had to see Jirou. It was a bad idea, but the thought of not exploring her feelings for her made her heart ache more than the idea of losing her relationship with Akashi.

She slipped out of her dorm, making her way toward Jirou's dorm which was just right above her dormroom. The moonlight from the window illuminated her path, and with every step, she felt both exhilarated and terrified.

As Y/N approached Jirou's dorm, her heart raced in her chest. Could Jirou still be awake at this hour?

She knocked softly, barely able to contain her nerves. A moment later, Jirou opened the door, her expression shifting from boredom to delight.

"Y/N! What are you doing here?" Jirou asked, stepping aside to let her in.

"I-I needed to see you," Y/N said breathlessly, closing the door behind her. "Can we talk?"

"Of course," Jirou replied, concern etched on her face. "Is everything okay?"

"No," Y/N admitted, the weight of her feelings crashing down on her. "I just had a fight with Akashi, and... I don't know what to do."

"Y/N, I-" Jirou started, but Y/N cut her off.

"I don't want to feel like this anymore," Y/N said, her voice trembling. "I want to be honest with myself about how I feel. And I can't stop thinking about you."

Jirou's eyes widened, a mixture of surprise and hope crossing her features. "You mean...?"

Y/N stepped closer, her heart pounding. "Yes, Jirou. I want you."

The words hung in the air between them, and Jirou's breath hitched as Y/N leans in, closing the distance. Time seemed to stand still as their lips brushed against each other, igniting a fire within them both. It was tentative at first, both girls unsure, but as Y/N deepened the kiss, she felt the world around them fade away.

Jirou responded in kind, wrapping her arms around Y/N's waist, pulling her closer. The kiss was passionate, filled with everything they had both been holding back, desire, longing, and the thrill of doing something so reckless yet so right.

But just as they lost themselves in the moment, a wave of panic surged through Y/N. Reality crashed back down, and she pulled away, breathless and wide-eyed.

"What are we doing?" Y/N gasped, her mind racing. "This is a terrible idea!"

"Y/N, wait!" Jirou exclaimed, concern flooding her voice.

"I'm still with Akashi!" Y/N said, her heart racing with uncertainty. "What if he finds out? What does this mean for us?"

"Y/N, I-" Jirou started, her expression conflicted. "I don't want to pressure you into anything, but you have to understand how I feel. I can't help it."

"I know," Y/N whispered, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes. "But I can't just leave him like this. It's not fair to anyone."

Jirou looked pained, stepping back as if she needed space to think. "I get that, but you need to decide what you really want. I don't want to be the reason you hurt someone, but I can't deny what's between us."

Y/N took a shaky breath, feeling the weight of the moment crashing down on her. "I never wanted to hurt you, Jirou. You mean too much to me."

"Then what do we do?" Jirou asked, her voice quiet but firm, her eyes searching Y/N's for answers.

"I don't know," Y/N admitted, feeling the heat of the moment dissipate, replaced by uncertainty and fear. "I need time to figure this out."

"Okay," Jirou replied softly, stepping back, though her eyes held a glimmer of hurt. "I'll respect that. Just promise me that when you do figure it out, you'll be honest with me."

"I promise," Y/N said, her heart heavy.

As the tension between them lingered, Y/N felt a mix of longing and regret. She knew she had crossed a line, and the consequences of that kiss weighed heavily on her heart.

But in that moment, she also knew that her feelings for Jirou were undeniable, and no matter how much she tried to fight it, she was drawn to her in a way that felt both terrifying and exhilarating.
