MELANIE HID IN AN ABANDONED WAREHOUSE, which technically wasn't abandoned anymore, outside of school grounds. She knew she should have been back at the dorms right now but she felt too overwhelmed to go back to her room.
The warehouse was one of Melanie's secret places that she would go to whenever she was overwhelmed, and she was extremely overwhelmed right now.
The warehouse was like a second dorm to her now, last year when her friends found out that she would often spend her time there they surprised her for her birthday by cleaning the warehouse and making it into a hangout spot, even making one of the rooms into a room where Melanie could practice witchcraft.
At first Melanie felt incredibly paranoid because her friends transformed someones private property into a hangout spot but Yoko assured her that her father dealt with that, they are very lucky that Yoko's father is a rich lawyer that owned a big lawyer firm, otherwise they would have all been screwed if they ever got caught being in the warehouse.
Melanie looked at a picture of her, Enid, Ajax, Yoko and Divina having fun at one of the festivals a year or so ago. She couldn't help but smile at the picture knowing that she would be leaving them all behind soon.
Melanie felt a pang of guilt as she thought about her friends, they have been nothing but kind to her ever since she came to Nevermore and yet here she was, planning on leaving them behind as she ends her own life.
There were many nights that she would have a mental breakdown and cry into Enid's shoulder while the werewolf would hug her and try and calm her down before calling their friends to come and help you get to bed after going unconscious.
She remembered the nights Divina would hold the witch after getting caught hurting herself again, hugging her as the brunette cried to sleep. Divina would always feel guilty when she would use her song to make Melanie calm down or go to sleep but Yoko always assured her that she wasn't doing anything wrong, just trying to help a friend.
Melanie remembered all the times Ajax and Yoko would help her back to the dorms after she had a panic attack during class or breaks, making sure that no one bothers her as Ajax carried her to her and Enid's dorm.
Melanie felt guilty just thinking about leaving Whiskers behind, but she knew that Yoko and Divina would be great cat moms to him. She looked down at the cat in her lap, he slept so peacefully it made her want to cry.
The brunette suspects that he might know what she was going to do, since he was much more affectionate ever since the school year started, ever since she started thinking about ending her life.
