5: Thoughts - Mikey

I walk out of my bedroom for five minutes to grab another slice of pizza, but when I come back, Dawn is totally out.

"Dawn! I brought an extra slice in case you changed your mind!" I sing out as I enter my bedroom. When I see her, she has her back against my bed and her head down, snoozing. I smile and practically swallow the two pizza slices whole before wiping my hands off and picking her up. I gently lay her on my bed and cover her up. "Sleep well, little ninja." I whisper before reaching over to turn the lamp off.

I grab an extra pillow and blanket and make a little pallet on the floor. I lay down on it and rest my hands behind my head, thinking back on everything that has happened. I'm really surprised that Dawn was totally willing to open up to me; my brothers were surprised, too. Raph is a little suspicious, thinking she works with The Foot or even Shredder. He had teased me while I was getting my pizza, saying it'd be easiest for her to manipulate 'the baby' and it's obvious he was referring to me. However, Leo agreed with me, she wasn't being manipulative; she's just comfortable around me.

But why...?

I start to think about what she'd told me about Jeremy. God, if I knew that kid, I'd totally kick his face in. How dare he treat Dawn like that. After everything she's been through, all she wanted was someone to be friends with; I know how that goes. I wonder if she was the loner kid at her school.

Was she bullied?

She seems like the really smart type, too. Maybe her and Donnie would get along.

But what if Donnie developed feelings for her like he did for April?

Or worse: What if she developed feelings for him?

Wait... How is that worse?

She said she'd developed feelings for Jeremy... But Jeremy was such an A-hole to her; that really annoys me. It took a lot for her to tell him she liked him, and he just threw it back in her face.

I sit up quickly and slap my hands against my face.

Why am I getting so worked up over this?!

"Mmmph... Mikey?" I hear a high-pitched squeak. I look over at a sleepy Dawn, who's sitting up and half awake. "I'm sorry! Did I wake you?" I yell in a whisper. She shakes her head no. "I feel bad letting you sleep on the floor." She mutters, pushing her chocolate hair away from her face. I shrug and look away, "It's not that big a deal, Dawnie; I'll be fine. Go back to sleep, silly." I say, giving her a smile and lightly booping her on the nose. She smiles and boops her nose back against my finger before laying back down.

"Mikey..." She yawns.

"Yeah?"

"You're a really cool dude. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." She says sleepily. I feel my face heat up in a blush.

She thinks I'm cool?

A couple more seconds go by until I hear her steady light breathing.

She's fallen back asleep.

I smile and lay back down myself.

She doesn't think she's adorable...

She's super mega adorable.

The next morning, I groggily woke up to Dawn who is just sitting on my bed with her back against the wall.

Why is she in my bed again?

Oh yeah, she's staying for awhile.

"Dawn?" I mutter sleepily. A pink tint seems to paint her cheeks as she smiles at me, "Morning, sleepy turtle." She whispers. I smile and wave my fingers at her, letting my eyes droop closed again. "MIKEY WAKE UP!" I suddenly hear one of my brothers shout.

My eyes open wide and my body jerks upward as I stand in a military position for a moment. Raph stands in the doorway with a smirk on his face before he breaks out laughing. I finally let my arm drop at my side and let out a sigh. "Dude! It's like eight in the morning! What are you doing getting me up so early?!" I demand. Raph shrugs, "It's training time, little bro. You come too, Dawn." Raph says, sounding almost annoyed when he's talking to her. Dawn and I share a confused glance before rising and following Raph to the dojo.
