Chapter summary: The year comes to an end. But at the same time it's a new beginning.
A story about Megumi's growth.

Megumi held one of Yuuji's hands under the table as each of them raised their cup as well.
"Cheers!"
Winter break had officially started.

With winter break also came Christmas holidays.
Megumi's birthday was on the 22nd of December. He had never really celebrated his birthday because he would spend time with his father Toji during Christmas holidays anyways.
This year, Toji was away from home during those days and not come home until the 26th of December the earliest.
Megumi wasn't minding that much because he could visit Toji on the 31st instead — his father's birthday.
Yuuji, however (of course), made his own plans and naturally included Megumi in them.
As soon as Megumi told him about the situation with his father, Yuuji was quick to give his very own solution. He, Gojo and Megumi should all celebrate Megumi's birthday and Christmas together.
Any answer that wasn't a 'Yes' or 'Okay' or 'That's a nice idea' or 'You're the most perfect person ever, Yuuji' wasn't accepted by him.
With a mildly amused smile, Megumi accepted Yuuji's kind offer.

So, on the 22nd of December, Megumi visited Yuuji's childhood home and was greeted by a very gleeful thirty-nine-years-old white-haired doctor who was very much elated about the idea of having Megumi spend time with him and his adopted son.
Gojo found out two hours ago that today was Megumi's birthday, and yet he was able to buy a present for him.
A digital camera and a polaroid camera. Megumi was genuinely happy about that gift. Ever since he had started preparing for med school, he had stopped taking pictures as a hobby. Winter break was perfect for some white winter pictures.
Megumi thanked Gojo.
Yuuji argued that he himself was enough of a present to Megumi. (He gifted him a new laptop because Megumi's old one had started bugging.)
Megumi would have actually accepted Yuuji as his present, but was grateful for Yuuji's actual gift, too.
And, for some reason, he could sense that he was going to enjoy some very pleasant birthday and Christmas hours.

On that same day, late in the afternoon, Megumi and Yuuji were asked by Gojo to help prepare dinner and some of the meals for Christmas dinner.
When Yuuji was given a knife, he expressed reluctance.
"Why do we have to?"
"Cooking is a skill you need for your whole life! You know that. I taught you the basics and even more." Gojo pointed at Yuuji with the tip of his knife. "Confess. How many times did you eat unhealthy delivery or fast food ever since living in that dorm room?"
"Uh ... every day?" Yuuji replied, just to spite his dad.
Gojo was highly disappointed.
"And what about you?"
