The next morning, Victor and Maëlle woke up in their respective suites, the first rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains. They quickly met in the common lounge, where the smell of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the aroma of warm croissants. As they scrolled through the numerous messages and photos sent by their family back in France, they felt comforted by their loved ones’ attention, even though the distance between them was a constant reminder of their new reality.

They spent some time talking, sharing stories and laughter. Victor reminisced about his last memories of Paris, evenings spent with friends, while Maëlle spoke about seaside walks and forest strolls with Ely and Summer. However, their moment of bonding was abruptly interrupted by a loud thud. The salon door swung open with a certain authority, revealing the king, who entered with a solemn stride. His face was serious, and his eyes reflected a newfound determination.

“I have come to introduce you to two people who, I hope, will ensure your safety in the days to come,” announced the king in a confident voice.

Behind him stood two bodyguards, immediately drawing Victor and Maëlle’s attention. The first, assigned to Victor, was a man in his thirties. He stood nearly 1.90 meters tall, with an imposing build and finely sculpted muscles. His black hair, cut short, and piercing gaze were complemented by a neatly trimmed beard. He wore an elegant yet functional guard uniform, combining light armor and black leather, and his noble, assured bearing reflected undeniable combat experience.

Beside him stood the second guard, assigned to Maëlle. Younger, in his twenties, he exuded a natural charm with his slightly wavy brown hair and intense blue eyes. Though slightly shorter than his colleague, he displayed evident agility and quickness. His uniform, though similar in style to the other guard’s, was tailored to maximize mobility while offering optimal protection.

“These two men are here to watch over you,” explained the king. “I am aware that your integration into this country has been marked by a few challenges, and I want to ensure that you can acclimate in complete safety. They are at your service and ready to intervene at any moment.”

Victor and Maëlle thanked the king, touched by this new gesture of care. The guards, though exuding an aura of seriousness, bowed respectfully and immediately made themselves available. Victor, seeking to establish a connection with his new guard, initiated a conversation.

“So, how do you find your post here?” he asked, attempting to break the ice.

The guard, though initially reserved, responded with a smile.

“I find this post to be an excellent opportunity to protect important people. It’s a way to serve our country differently. And you, how do you find your new life here?”

Victor, pleased with the opening, responded enthusiastically.

“It’s a real change from Paris and the French countryside, but I enjoy the novelty. It’s fascinating to discover such a different culture and way of life. And I must say, I’m impressed by the level of professionalism from the guards here. You’re really doing important work.”

The bodyguard nodded in acknowledgment.

“Thank you, Victor. We do our best to ensure everyone’s safety. It’s an honor to protect members of the royal family.”

The conversation between Victor and his bodyguard continued on various topics, ranging from cultural differences to personal interests. They quickly found common ground, their exchange easing the atmosphere and transforming the presence of the guard into an opportunity to make a new friend.

Meanwhile, Maëlle, observing this interaction, tried to get used to the idea of the guards as a constant but necessary presence. She began to see their role in a more positive light, understanding that their mission was to ensure her safety while allowing her to adjust as best as possible. She hoped to find a balance that would allow her to retain some freedom while respecting the demands of their new life.

In the afternoon, after a visit to the local market with their guards to familiarize themselves with their presence, Maëlle and Victor headed to their language class. The lesson took place in a studious yet friendly atmosphere, with frequent exchanges between the teacher and the students. The sessions included role-playing to practice common dialogues, pronunciation exercises, and discussions about cultural aspects related to the language.

The guards, discreet and attentive, took their places in the back of the room, ensuring security without interfering with the lesson. Maëlle’s guard, despite his silent presence, observed her progress with interest, ready to assist if needed. During breaks, he engaged in informal conversations with Maëlle, asking her about her struggles with the language and offering practical advice to improve her proficiency.

As the day drew to a close and the evening shadows began to stretch across the palace, the king invited Maëlle and Victor to join him for dinner in the grand dining hall. It was an offer the cousins accepted with gratitude, appreciating the king’s desire to include them more in his daily life.

The dining room, sumptuously decorated with richly adorned tapestries and crystal chandeliers, offered an atmosphere both elegant and warm. The king, dressed in evening attire, greeted his guests with a sincere smile. Maëlle and Victor took their places beside him, their guards remaining in the background but always alert.

During dinner, the conversation flowed naturally. The king inquired about Victor and Maëlle’s impressions of the country and their recent experiences. Victor spoke of the warm reception from the locals and the beauty of the landscapes, while Maëlle expressed her admiration for the architecture and local culture.

“And how do you find the language?” asked the king with a playful smile.

Maëlle, though slightly embarrassed, responded with humor.

“It’s a real challenge! But with the support of our teachers and guards, I’m sure we’ll improve. And I must admit, the mistakes we make are sometimes quite amusing.”

The king burst into laughter, a warm and contagious laugh.

“That’s the spirit to have. Learning is a journey, and it’s important to know how to enjoy it.”

The dinner continued in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, punctuated by laughter and interesting discussions. The king’s presence, far from feeling distant, revealed itself to be that of a benevolent mentor and sincere friend. Maëlle and Victor grew more comfortable, discovering not only a generous host but also a valuable ally in their adventure.

Sharing this meal with the king, Maëlle and Victor felt closer to him, finding in him a source of support and comfort. The challenges of their new life seemed a little less intimidating, and they felt ready to face the next steps with newfound confidence.

Thus, despite the initial challenges, Maëlle and Victor began to adapt to their new reality. With the help of their guards, their progress in learning the language, and the growing support of the king, they turned each day into an opportunity for enrichment and growth. The evening ended on a promising note, with strengthened bonds and a clearer vision of their future in this new country.
