It's Halloween tonight, about two months after the murders, and still, no one knows it was the brothers.

Lyle had asked me to come over to help hand out candy, I agreed but this was the first time I'd been over since the murders happened

they still haven't told Mr why they did it, though I have an idea I haven't asked because I don't want to bring it up

I got dressed and went over, I knocked on the door and Erik answered "Hey" I smiled "Hi" he replied looking all freaked out "What happened?" I asked him now worried about him "Nothing, nothing" he shook his head "Come in" he said stepping aside

I walked in and Lyle came "I love your costume, it's fitting for you," he said "What costume?" I asked "Your witch costume" he said motioning to me "You're such a jerk" I rolled my eyes and Erik shut the door behind me

"I was just gonna go get candy wanna come?" he asked the both of us and I agreed while Erik said no

we walked outside and Lyle looked happier than normal

we walked through the isles getting any candy we could find

"Lyle," I said turning to him "Yeah" he replied "how're you feeling? I know Erik isn't doing too well, but how are you?" I asked "I'm fine" he answered "That's such a lie" I shook my head "You know, I was in university for psych for a year," I told him "Yeah before you dropped out, now you're in law... you're in law, you're basically a lawyer, this is great! you could help us with so much" he said at the realization

"you know I've been trying but you don't listen to me" I side-eyed him "That's not true, I've been working on my anger because of you," he told me "Another lie" I pointed out "I'm not lying, I try not to get angry, I'm just stressed," he told me

"I get it, Lyle, I get like that too sometimes," I said putting a hand on his back comforting him "Now you're nice to me?" he questioned "Because you're opening up, Erik's very open and tells me how he feels" I replied and he scoffed "Lyle, I'm gonna put this in words you understand ok? As you called them two poets once said, Girl, you know it's true" I told him and he laughed a little

"that one was good" he said looking over at me "Thank you" I smiled

we finished shopping and went back to the house, I did wanna talk to him about it more later

we were walking up to the door and Erik opened it and jumped, Lyle started laughing but I gave him a bit of a confused look

why was he so jumpy today?

"holy shit, did you see that Ange?" he asked "he just fuckin' jumped like a little school girl, that was classic" Lyle laughed, I gave him a look

"you goin' somewhere?" Lyle asked him as he walked to his car "Yeah I just gotta run a few errands" Erik answered "ok, well hurry back, me and Angela just bought a shit ton of Halloween candy to pass out to the kids, and not the cheap shit either, we got the good shit!  you know how much I fuckin love Halloween!" Lyle exclaimed as we walked into the house "Yeah" Erik replied but I couldn't help but feel something was off with him today

the two of us sat on the couch and started watching a movie, it felt weird knowing this was where they died, this used to be where we'd hang out all the time and now it just felt different

"Lyle, I can't not ask you, I've been holding it in, why did you do it?" I asked him and he sighed deeply "He uh- He raped us Ange, well, he was raping Erik" he told me shakily and my heart dropped
