(Y/n)'s POV

I stand in front of the door of my homeroom class, thoughts of the night before and the nightmare I had still running through my mind.

I sigh deeply, and hesitantly walk into the classroom, clutching my binder tightly as I made my way to my seat.

Lynn was already in her seat. I wasn't surprised.

"Hey, (Y/n)." I heard her say in a giddy tone.

I squeeze my eyes shut and sigh.

I wait a few moments before opening my eyes and turning my head around, "Hi, Lynn." I say in an awkward tone.

She had a cheeky grin on her face, "So... Are we like-"

"No," I interrupt, "no, absolutely not! That was-... It was a mistake."

Her smile faltered, "What..?" She said softly, "(Y/n), you literally kiss me back!"

"You caught me off guard!" I respond.

I roll my eyes and turn back around.

I lied. It wasn't some mistake. But out of fear of rejection of some sort, I had to.

I heard her scoff. She was obviously unhappy about what I had said. And I hated that. But this was better for me. For both of us.

_______

Class eventually ends, and I begin packing up my stuff.

I exit the classroom, heading towards my locker.

I put in the combination, and open it, grabbing out my books for my next class, when my friend Rochelle McGill came over.

"Yo, what's up, (Y/n)?" She spoke.

I force a smile, "Nothing much."

She nods, "Cool... Well I'm having a Halloween party tonight, and you're invited."

I raise an eyebrow, "Tonight? And you're just now telling me?" I ask.

"It was last minute," She shrugs, "besides I think your dad will be cool with it."

I roll my eyes jokingly, "We shall see."

_______

Lynn's POV

I watched as she interacted with Rochelle, a girl in one of my classes. They seemed to be friends.

I felt hurt. Played. And... Jealous..?

I roll my eyes, and just begin to walk to my next class, which was science.

I set my binder down on my desk. Zia was in this class with me, luckily.

"Hey, Lynn." She said to me with a smile, "So, how'd it go with-"

"She doesn't like me." I interrupt.

Zia stops smiling, "Seriously? Didn't she kiss you back?" She asked.

I nod, "She did, but it was apparently a mistake. And I had supposedly 'caught her off guard'."

I put air quotes around that, and sigh out of annoyance and frustration.

"Whatever, it's her loss. There's plenty of fish in the sea, LJ." Zia responded.

"But I want that fish." I thought with a sigh.

My science teacher walked up to the front of the class, and begin talking about the human body and it's organs. We would be dissecting frogs today, and I wasn't all too thrilled about it.

The trays were already on the desks, with a blade next to it and two pairs of gloves

I look over at Zia, who grimaced. I too grimaced as I looked back at the frog.

"Okay then... Let's start cutting open a dead frog." I say in a strained tone as I slipped on the gloves, passing the other pair to Zia.

She hesitantly put them on, and sighed.

I pick up the blade and stood up from my seat.

I slowly lower the blade to the frog's stomach, cutting through layers and layers of skin.

"So, what's up with you and (Y/n)?" She asked me. I turn to look at her, my eye twitching.

She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, "Don't give me that intimidation attempt bullshit. I just want the full story. What happened?"

I breath deeply, "I kissed her last night-"

"You told me that this morning, Lynn." She interrupted.

"I know that, will you just let me finish?!" I say in an annoyed tone.

Knowing me, she sighed, "Okay, okay! My bad. Continue."

"Thank you." I huff, "Anyway, I kissed her last night, tried talking to her about it earlier, she got all defensive and rejected me by saying that it was a mistake, and then that was that."

Zia nodded, "Like I said before, more fish in the sea. But if you're that desperate to talk to her, I heard her best friend Rochelle is throwing a Halloween party, and (Y/n) is going."

I groan at that, "A party? Absolutely not, no, not my thing."

"It was when Leni and Lori hosted that masquerade party."

"That time was different! I was proving a point!"

"Yeah, okay. But you still have the dress in your closet."

I roll my eyes and place the blade down, squeezing the bridge of my nose, "That doesn't matter. Point is I hate parties, so no way am I attending that."

Zia sighs, "Even if it will depend whether or not you get to be with the love of your life?"

"She's not the-" I groan and sigh, "Fine, I'll go. But if all hell breaks loose, I'm blaming your ass."

Zia raises her hands in defense, "Not too much on me, now. It will all depend on what you say. You've gotta be careful with your words."

"Think I don't know that?" I say as I pick the blade back up and finish carving through the frog.

"Ugh, so gross." Zia muttered as she looked down at the frog. I nod in agreement, putting the blade back down.

"Time to start 'exploring' I guess." I say in a sarcastic tone.
