(Y/n)'s POV
Me and my dad stand in front of the door of the Loud house.
My dad was nicely dressed, and I was decent, for the most part.
"You ready?" He asks me.
I sigh, "Yeah, I guess." I say in an unsure tone.
My dad nods, and raises his fist up to knock, only for the door to be opened just before he could.
I see Mr. Loud, and he has a big smile on his face, "Xavier! Glad you could make it!" He says to my dad.
My dad smiles back, "Glad you could invite us." My dad responds.
We enter the house, and I look around.
My head turns to my right, and I see the dining room area. I see around nine kids at the table, Lynn included.
I sigh as I see her.
"Our other kids Lori and Lincoln aren't home, so that leaves two seats open for you and your daughter." Mr. Loud says to my dad.
"Well, I'll be damned. What a coincidence." He responds back.
I go over to sit down in one of the empty chairs, which was right across from Lynn.
She looks over at me, "Hey." She spoke.
I turn my head from my dad and Mr. Loud, and give a confused look as I point to myself, "Me?" I whisper.
Lynn rolls her eyes, "No, the mailman." she says sarcastically, "Yes you!"
"Okay, jeez... was just asking a question." I reply, "Hi." I mutter.
My dad and Mr. Loud sit down at the table just a few moments after, Mr. Loud next to his wife and my dad next to me.
I pick up my fork and take a bite of the food on my plate.
It was just a simple plate of lasagna. Nothing too fancy.
"So, how's the new school treating you?" Mrs. Loud asked me with a smile.
I look up, and clear my throat, "It's not too bad. I wouldn't say it's any better than my last school, but I've been able to push through."
Mrs. Loud nods her head, "That's good." She replied.
I nodded as well, and took a few more bites of my food.
My dad and Mr and Mrs Loud were all socializing. They seemed to be getting along pretty well.
I look around at the table, and noticed a girl with long black hair looking directly at me.
Despite her bangs covering half her face, eyes included, I knew she was looking at me.
"Can I help you?" I say as I tilt my head, and raise an eyebrow.
"No, unless you'd like to help me perform a ritual." The girl said plainly with a smirk.
I grimace, and look away from her.
One of the other girls at the table looked over at me. She was blonde and had on a pink dress, "I like your style. Very fashionable."
I turn my head, "Oh, thank you." I say with a smile.
There was another girl right next to her that looked exactly like her, only a complete opposite type of style.
"Twins." I thought as I subtly nodded.
I ate the last few bites of my lasagna, before wiping my mouth off with a napkin.
I look over at my dad, who was still conversing with the two other adults.
He wasn't finished with his lasagna, so of course that meant I'd have to wait.
I turn my head to look at Lynn, who was already looking at me.
I furrow my eyebrows, and before I could say anything, she spoke to me,
"So... How're you doing?" She asked as she too finished her lasagna.
I tilt my head in slight confusion, " I'm doing alright... You?"
"Fine," Lynn replied, "but I have this soccer game coming up, and I'm kind of stressed about it. I'm usually not this stressed. But it's like... Recently the smallest things have been stressing me out."
Lucy crossed her arms, leaning forward in her chair to look at Lynn, "I knew you've been stressed about something." She said.
Lynn rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah, whatever." She responded.
"What part about it are you stressed about?" I ask her. I knew it was probably a dumb question, but I wanted to ask anyway.
Lynn was quiet for a moment, before sighing, "Messing up. Making the team lose."
Lynn's family members look at her in disbelief. It was honestly shocking for her to be stressed about sports, especially when it comes to possibly losing. Lynn hardly ever lost.
"Dude, come on, you're like the best athlete in your school." Her older sister Luna said.
The rest of her family nodded in agreement.
Even I nodded as well.
"I agree. All you've gotta do is just try to subside the stress and negative thoughts. Try to think more positive. It can be hard at times, and I completely understand that. I've been there. But you're Lynn Loud Jr. And the one I know isn't a quitter. So try your best, because your best is enough. And it shows that you at least put effort in and tried your hardest."
I let the advice slip from my mouth before I could stop it.
I said that. I actually gave someone meaningful advice, and maybe even useful advice.
Lynn tilts her head, "That's..." She started to say, but trailed off.
She inhaled deeply, "I-..." She cut herself off and sighed,
"Thank you," she said softly, "seriously."
Lynn smiled, her dimples showing.
I think that's the first time I've seen her smile... Like actually smile instead of it being a cocky grin.
I smile back, "Of course."
We just sort of stared at each other for a few moments before I turned my head in the direction of my dad, who had just finished his food.
He cleared his throat, "We should get going now," he said, "(y/n), you ready?" He asked me.
I nod my head, "Yeah, I am."
He nods back, and turns to look at Mr. Loud, "Thank you Mr and Mrs Loud for inviting us over. The lasagna was great."
He smiled at them, and stood up from the chair, gesturing for me to do the same.
I stand up and push my chair in, looking over at Lynn one last time with a smile, "Bye, Lynn." I spoke softly.
She smiled back, "See ya." She responded.
I chuckle as I begin to turn around and follow behind my dad as we left the Loud's.
