I wake up confused. What am I doing in the boys dorm? I roll over and am about to ask James when I remember. The dare! How could I be dumb enough to forget about that? I mean, I came up with the whole thing. I shake James awake and grin as he sits up, hoping that he will talk and lose the dare. He reaches over to the table beside his bed and grabs the board. Good morning, Starry. Good morning, Lynx. We need to wake up Red and Shadow. I call Red. He is always more exciting to wake up. Yay! I get shadow. James and I stand up and walk over to the boys' beds. We hold up our fingers and count down from three. When we hit zero, we nod at each other and leap on the two boys at the same time. Fred instantly reaches for his board and writes, I'm going to kill you! He stands up from his bed and chases me around the room. The commotion wakes up Lee, who has no idea about the dare, mind you, and he asks,"Let me guess, Rose woke Fred up." It wasn't phrased as a question, so I felt no need to answer. We all get ready for the day and head down to the great hall. By the time we reach the Gryffindor's table, Lee is starting to look concerned. He sits down next to Liz, "Lizzie, help me. I think I'm going mental." "Why?" she asks, genuinely worried. She had seen us walk in with Lee. And when someone starts complaining about being mental in our presence, it is usually assumed to be a bad sign. "Well, these four maniacs, who are usually chatter boxes, haven't said a word since we got up this morning." Liz turns to look at us,"Is this true?" We nod our heads. "You guys can still talk, right?" I reach for my board. Not exactly, we dared each other that we couldn't talk for a month. Yup, no talking for a month, James adds to our board. "Let me get this straight; you guys won't be talking for a month." We nod our heads excitedly, at least one of our friends is catching on. "This is going to be the most blissful month of my life!" Lee, just because we can't talk doesn't mean we can't hear you. Fred shows his board to Lee. "I mean, Lee is right, it looks like my life will be peaceful. I won't be bothered by your voices for a whole month." I hate my friends. I decide then, since they are so happy, we might as well give them something else to look forward to. Well, mom and dad I hope you enjoy the silence because when we get our voices back, we will pull the biggest prank in Hogwarts history. The other three pranksters give me a semi-surprised look before quickly masking it. They look at me with a smirk, loving the idea. You better watch out. Red, Starry, Lynx, and I are coming for you. At that moment the bell rings, signaling that it is time for our first class of the day. This was going to be entertaining. Soon, the rest of the castle got used to not hearing us. The professors were very happy considering the fact that we weren't interrupting their lessons. The rest of our schoolmates relaxed a ton, figuring that there weren't going to be many pranks since we were silent. Seeing all of this I decided that it was the perfect time to plan the perfect prank. After quidditch practice one day, I quickly pull the boys down to the kitchens. It is time to plan a prank. - Starry How would we do it? - Shadow Not sure yet. Got any ideas? - Starry How about we turn the Slytherin's common room yellow? -Red I was thinking that we should prank the whole castle in one night.-Starry How would we get that done in one night? - Shadow I'm not sure. -Starry. We sit there and pondered this for what feels like hours, and looking at my watch, it is hours. I am deep in thought when James starts to write. What if we each get a house and prank them on our own? - Lynx. We all rush to write down what house we want. Slytherin- Shadow Slytherin- Red Ravenclaw - Lynx Gryffindor- Starry. The group gives me an odd look, surprised that anybody had chosen Gryffindor. I look at them and shrug. I figure I'm the most likely to keep it fair- Starry. Once they read it, they all nod in agreement. I look at Fred and George's boards. Figures, they both want to prank the house they hate. Before they can get into a heated argument, I motion for them to play rock, paper, scissors. They understand what I'm trying to say and turn towards each other. Best out of one- Red. George nods. I mentally say rock paper scissors as they start. George loses. Oh well, pranking Diggory sure will be fun, won't it? We all snort. Of course it will. Maybe it will knock some sense into him and he'll start to understand sarcasm.-Starry. At this point we are all trying so hard to keep our laughter in, knowing that if we start, the perfects will catch us. Glad we got a plan, but when are we doing this?- Lynx I was thinking maybe sometime around Halloween. Then they will be stressed because we will start talking that night.- Starry Let's do it Halloween night- Red. No, because then they will suspect it.-Shadow What about before Halloween? - Lynx I want to be able to talk when it happens.-Starry So after Halloween?- Shadow We should put the prank into motion the night after Halloween night—Starry Yea- Shadow One more thing, what about the teachers? -Lynx We could do it all together- Shadow. Great Idea - Starry. We start planning excitedly about what we are doing. After hours of brainstorming, we come up with the perfect prank for the teachers. Ok, fine, it may not be perfect; no prank ever is, but at least it will be funny. We quietly sneak back to the common room, avoiding all signs of Filch or Mrs. Norris, his cat. Once we make it back, I look at the boys and scribble something down. May the best prankster win. We all shake hands and part to go our separate ways. Before they make it very far, I pull them all into a goodnight hug. They chuckle slightly, returning the hug. I release them from the hug and head up to our dorms. As I walk in, I notice a figure pacing. Liz flips around when she hears the door open. She is silent for a few seconds before she angrily whispers, "Where were you? I assume with the boys. And no that doesn't mean I don't have a right to be angry. Next time you disappear like this, I am coming looking for you. Understand." I nod my head sadly. She crosses the room and pulls me into a hug. "Sorry, it's just that you weren't in our room; Lee didn't know where you were, and you weren't in the common room. I got worried. Then the time ticked around to three in the morning, and you weren't here. That was the latest you've ever stayed out. I was just concerned." I hug her even tighter. I look at my watch, not even realizing how late we had stayed out. 4 am. That's a new record for me and the boys. Oops. I try to tell her through the hug that it won't happen again. She seems to get the message and goes to her bed. "Good night, Rose." I close my eyes and fall asleep sad that I had worried my friend.
