We Need a Seeker

"I wonder when the first Quidditch practice will be?" That's James, I thought to myself, always thinking about Quidditch. "We need a seeker first, unless you plan on trying out Jamie." "Good, which means Wood can't start practice until we have one." "Who do you think it will be?" We dive into a full analysis of every single half decent flyer in our house.  By that time my tiplets had showed up, James and I were so focused we didn't even notice. "What are you talking about?" "Ahh! Shadow, you can't sneak up on me like that." "We've been here for the last ten minutes, Starry." "Sorry," I make a face, knowing there is going to be some teasing later on. "You lovebirds were just too busy staring into each other's eyes to notice us." And there it was. I rolled my eyes. "Guys, we just finished discussing who our seeker will be." "And?" prompted Fred. "There are no good options," James revealed. We all groaned. This actually stinks; we need a good seeker or we'll never win. It's not that I don't trust Wood's judgment. I mean, sure, he can find a good Quidditch player, but sometimes they aren't the best teammates. Also I hate Wood with a passion even though I played Quidditch.  Our group made up over half of the Quidditch team. James and I are chasers, Fred and George are beaters, and Lee is the announcer. Speaking of Lee, "Where's the other dorm mate?" "Lee said that our talking was too loud and that he needed to sleep in." "That's a very valid point there, Red. Don't know what you're rolling your eyes for." "Yeah, you were being very loud last night. "Extremely loud." "You three shut it! I'm going to get our schedules." My triplet stormed off to McGonagall to get our schedules although he was also likely complaining about being bullied. When he returned, I took my schedule from him, eager to see what kind of horrid day was ahead of me. "I'm sure they won't be that bad." I trailed off as Fred said, "We have potions first this morning!" My day was going to suck. I ran up to Mrs. McGonagall with the rest of the crew right behind me. "We can't have potions first; I'm going to die." "Sorry, Rose, I can't change the schedule." "But Minnie," I whined, "I'm your favorite, right?" "I don't have a favorite," she stated simply, and with a wink, she said, "But if I did have one, you might make the list." "That's not fair!" "What about us?" My friends complained at the same time. "Love you, Minnie! Bye guys, I got to go wake Liz up before we're late to class!" I skipped off to my dorm and ran inside. "Liz, get up," I sang, walking over to her bed. When she didn't wake up after my first try, I yelled, "Elizabeth get you butt out of bed right now or I'm going to kill you," what can I say I'm impatient.  "Thank you for waking me up so nicely, Rosalynn." Ohh Liz, my bestest annoyingest friend ever,"I hate you. Now get up; we have potions first, and you know how crabby Snape gets when you're late. Also, here's some breakfast." I throw some toast at her and plop down on her bed while she gets ready. I met Liz, my blonde-haired blue-eyed bestie, our first year. She saw me take McGonagall's list from James but stayed silent. Instant best friends forever. "Liz, we have to go. We have three minutes to get to the dungeons." " She runs out of the bathroom, slips her shoes on, and stands at the door.  "What are you waiting for? Let's go." We sprint to the dungeons to get there on time, but there isn't an open table. I quickly slide in to the seat next to James, forcing Liz to sit by Lee. Lee and Liz have almost always been at each other's throats. For the past two years, I have been trying to get them to get along. I made a little progress last year; they weren't actively looking at each other like they wanted to murder the other. "How long will they last before one of them is dead?" I ask James nervosley. "I give them ten minutes." I snort, that is sadly an accurate assessment, or so I thought.

Time Skip

"It has been a week since school started, and Wood still hasn't found us a seeker yet. I'm starting to worry that he forgot." "James! Chill Wood would never forget about Quidditch." "You're darn right, I wouldn't, Rose." Ugh,"Speak of the devil. What do you need, Wood?" "Nothing, Mrs. Weasley," I hate that name, "I just wanted to sit by you." "Do not punch, do not punch, do not punch." James picked up on the mantra and started to laugh. "Good idea, Hazel. I might have to use that one myself." I glare at him, too annoyed with Wood to yell at James for using that awful nickname. "Wood giving you trouble again, Starry?" Fred plopped down across from me. "No never," my sarcasm seeping in.  "I just love it when he interrupts my conversations for absolutely no reason except to hit on me." Wood perks up at that, thinking I'm serious, ever so hopeful that one. "We better get to class right now anyways; see you around Wood," I drop my voice to a whisper and add, "Hopefully never." My friends snorted; oops, they weren't supposed to hear that. We show up to our first class, potions. My Thursday just got a whole lot worse. "Snape?" I ask, raising my hand,"Why are you always so crabby, man?" Snape flips around so fast I'm scared he will trip over his own two feet. "I am your professor; you will treat me with respect." "You've got to earn your respect first," I add sarcastically, "sir." "Detention tonight, seven o'clock," mission complete,"don't be late." "I would never Snape, you know how much I love your detentions," I smirk.  He starts the lesson, and I zone out. School is so easy, especially potions; it just makes sense. I make to the last class of the day, care of magical creatures. Professor Kettleburn is lecturing, and I have lost all focus on it. I don't even know what he is teaching about. When I'm about to fall asleep standing up when I feel a piece of paper hit me in the back of my head. Knowing it is from one of my friends, I open it. Heard we got a new seeker-Lynx. We've got a seeker. I have to bite my lip to keep from doing a happy dance. As much as I tease James for loving the sport, I'm a Quidditch fanatic too. Who? -Starry. I toss the note back to him only to get it thrown, rather hard, at the back of my head a few minutes later. "Was that really necessary?" I mouth at him as I open the note. Harry Potter-Lynx. I toss the note to George and watch as his face lights up, and he shows it to our other triplet. After class, we race to the Great Hall to congratulate Harry. "Well done," says George in a low voice. "Wood told Lynx who told us. You're the seeker. Fred and I are your beaters. And the two who are currently staring at each other are two of your chasers." "We weren't staring. We were just... "my sentence trails off as I see Harry.

Flashback

"Not my children," my mother is screaming. There is a flash of green, and she falls silent. The weird guy turns toward my baby brother. "Not my brother," I say, throwing myself in front of Harry. There is a green flash, and the next thing I know, I'm smiling up at these two people. "Don't worry, we'll take care of you, Rose," the woman says.

Then I black out.
