It's 7:30 PM towards the end of September, it's getting dark out as Rowan checks their phone and sees two missed calls from an unknown number. They ignore the calls thinking it was just a spam call and went to block the number, but when they went to check their phone again a message comes through saying,
"Pick up the Phone Rowan"
Rowan's heart jumps out of their chest as they read the message. How did this person know their name? That's when they realized there was a killer on the loose, and how it starts is by unknown numbers calling. Their heart jumps as they realize that this was the killer and that they were next.
Rowan gets a bright idea to block the number, thinking it was over, they go and sit on their couch. When their phone rings again. This time it was a phone call from their best friend, Demi. Rowan answers the phone call, Demi's voice comes out frantic when she speaks. She is clearly in panic mode right now, "Rowan! You have to get out of the house, right now!" Tears spring to Rowan's eyes as they listen to Demi's voice.
Demi could hear their crying through the phone, and she tries to soften her voice a little since she knows how sensitive they are, but her panic remains. "Hey... I need you to calm down, focus, okay? Listen to me, grab as much stuff as you can and get out of there. I'm on my way to you right now." Just as she says that there was banging noise on the front door.
Rowan quickly hangs up and runs to their bedroom, grabbing their suitcase and frantically packing as much stuff as they could.
With each passing second, the banging on their front door gets louder and louder, Rowan can practically hear the person's anger through the door. Once they get their stuff packed and begin to rush to the front door only to hear... nothing. Everything was quiet, eerily quiet. The banging on the door has stopped completely. They breathed out a sigh of relief as they heard the banging stop. Just as Rowan begins to relax, something breaks the silence, the sound of glass shattering. The sound seems to be coming from the kitchen.
Rowan wasted no time slipping out of the front door. As soon as they stepped out the front door, they heard the sound of footsteps following them. Their hearts raced as they tried to rush out to the sidewalk. The sun was setting, and the sky was turning into a beautiful orange- red color, but yet they never felt so afraid.
Being afraid of the footsteps from behind them, Rowan runs as fast as their legs would allow, they hear the sound of heavy breathing behind them. The streetlights were turning on. Rowan was breathing heavily as adrenaline took over and they felt like their heart was about to burst out of their chest from fear.
Rowan runs all the way to the police station and their lungs burn. They bend over and put their hands on their knees and look down the street. They saw someone standing there in the middle of the street watching them. Rowan couldn't tell who it was, but the only thing they cared about was the fact that they were safe at the police station. They open the door, letting the cool air and safety of the police station wash over them.
"Can I help you?" the receptionist asks, Rowan breathed out a sigh of relief and leaned on the counter. Their hands were shaking, and the adrenaline was slowly leaving their body, causing their legs to almost collapse beneath them. "I... I think I'm being followed." The reception looked in disbelief as she chewed her gum and typed on her computer, "Why do you think you are being followed?"
Rowan takes a deep breath, trying to calm down enough to speak clearly. "I was just in my apartment, and someone was banging on my door. I got out and I heard glass break, and I think they were chasing me, I saw someone standing across the street, just watching me." The receptionist continued to type on her computer as she listened to their story, "Did you get any weird phone calls or text messages?"
