PILOT
'in for a penny'
Wendy was between consciousness and dream; her head swung to the left, a soft groan leaving her mouth, and a dark bruise coloured her cheek. Her arms and legs hung limp as she was held by her neck where the same dark violet bloomed in small petals.
Leon gritted his teeth. The wind howled like ghosts coming back to haunt; to pester; to cajole.
The waves roared and crashed all around them. The moon was nowhere to be seen, devoured by the dark clouds. But the echo of it is alive, blanketing the dark silhouettes of a murderer and a killer.
But Leon couldn't hear anything else; couldn't see anything else.
There was only her.
And he was going to lose her.
Through the roar of it all, there was a silence. A numbing.
A question presented just before him. A puzzle only he could answer.
Wendy, his Wendy, closed her eyes.
More conscious than awake. More accepting of fate.
He pulled the safety.
Closed his own eyes.
He muttered her name like a prayer, like a beg.
He whispered his sentiments. His love. His promise.
He opened his eyes.
And Leon Song, committing his second murder, fired.
