THE SUN HAD BEGAN to set, the air was crisp and cold, the waves louder as the boat rushed to get away from whomever was following them. her hands pulled her hoodie sleeves down past her hands, wondering the boat hands tucked in her hoodie pockets.

her hair was pulled up into a pony tail, curls spilling messily from the elastic, small pieces pulled out by her ears. skin cold to the touch, the hot water from the shower only provided so much warmth for the girl, the feeling of the icy cold ocean water still against her skin.

she neared her mother, leaning against the counter madison stood at. peering over her shoulder at the book madison was flipping through, her eyes scanned the page her mother was stuck on. it had been the logs from the boat they'd seen.

colette's eyes reread the page, her mother turned to head to the girl who was deep in thought. "san diego's gone" colette muttered, speaking to herself as she stared blankly at the page, a weak nod coming from madison. "so we'll find somewhere else to go, that's all we can do." colette muttered, and madison nodded softly at the girl. her hand moving to rest against the teens bicep, "we'll be okay, we're gonna figure it out." madison told gently, earning a nod and a shrug from colette. "what other choice do we have?" she mumbled, her eyes meeting madison's.

her mothers eyes held a look she couldn't decipher, perhaps it was worry, maybe confusion as she stared at her daughter. the same girl who had to know every detail of what was going to happen weeks prior, now she stood not prying for information madison didn't have. "you feeling okay?" she questioned softly, earning a shrug from colette who weakly nodded.

she pursed her lips, nails tapping against the page. "yeah, im just tired." colette told softly, shrugging lightly as her mother gently shut the red book her eyes had been locked on. nudging the teen who looked to her mother, "try not to worry to much, i've got it under control." madison told softly, for as long as colette had been alive she'd always had the never ending worry built into her body. it seemed like a second nature for her to worry about anything that came up, so she only nodded her head at her mother.

"why don't you go try to get a little sleep, we're gonna dock soon." madison told softly to the teen who reluctantly nodded. turning on her heels she slowly left, socks padding against the hard floor.

THE BOAT SLOWED to a stop, colette leaned against the side of the boat. eyes scanning the home atop the hill, the old wooden dock providing a clear path to the home.

she anxiously played with the rings on her fingers, watching the home. searching for any sign of the dead, yet the dark sky only further annoyed her eyes. daniel was the first to walk down the small steps to the dock, using a rope to tie the boat in place. everyone else followed closely after him, colette's shoes gently hit the dock, her hands stuffed into her pockets. teeth chewing on the inside of her cheek.
