"Hey, Ron, Harry. Come out. Look what daddy brought for you two!" He yelled closing the door. He brought their favorite donuts from a donut shop. Usually when Stefan came back, he could hear all the noises coming from his sons like some storm was happening in the house but that day it was so peaceful like nobody lived there.
"Caroline? Baby?" He called his wife's name. But no answer came. He didn't understand as he put the box of donuts on the table and started to walk inside.
"Ron, Harry, Care, where are you?" He called them again. He ran faster on the stairs. As he got inside his sons room, he froze. His eye didn't believe it. It wasn't true. It wasn't.
Stefan quickly opened his eyes as he got his regular nightmares which was actually his reality. He started breathing faster, trying to calm his body. He rubbed his face and got up. Lexi was supposed to bring Caroline at night but she didn't so Stefan was all alone. He paced around, poured himself a glass of water.
It was not early in the morning. It was 7 am. He rubbed his eyes as he went outside to collect his mails. He sighed when he saw them, again the mailman gave Elena's mails to him. He then had to go to Elena's to collect his. They both said goodbye to each other last night and took an oath to forget about whatever happened between them.
He started walking to Elena's. Her door was wide open which was strange. It was still early in the morning.
"Mrs. Salvatore. You're hurt" Stefan heard from a very distant but he heard it right. He got inside and in their living room, he saw Elena's helping hand was examining Elena who was sitting on the floor looking straight. She looked traumatized. She had wounds and marks on her thigh, her neck, few cuts on her arms.
"What the hell happened?" Stefan said as he sat on his knees looking at Elena. Elena's helping hand Mariah said "I don't know, sir. I found her here. She's not speaking anything."
"Hey, Elena" Stefan put his hand on Elena's cheeks but she didn't even move or react. "Where's Damon!" Stefan asked. "He went out last night and hasn't returned." Mariah said.
Stefan scooped Elena into his arms. "I'm taking hers to my place. If her husband returns, call me." Stefan said placing her more comfortably in his arms.
He took her to his place, placed her on his bed. "Elena, are you okay? You can tell me now" Stefan asked gently looking at her. A tear came out of her eye, rolling on her cheek. "I don't wanna talk about it" she said sadly. Stefan nodded. "Okay, okay. Do you want me to take you to the hospital?" He asked worriedly because she was hurt. He could see her marks.
She shook her head no. "Can I...?" He offered to check her. "Just give me some pain killers. I'll be fine." Elena said softly. Her voice broke as she said. Stefan brought her painkillers. She took them.
She gently fell on his bed. It was comfortable. Stefan pulled the blankets on her body. She turned into a ball she slept. The urge Stefan had to kiss on her forehead gently but he couldn't and would never. She wasn't his. She needed help right now, not some weird fantasies of him.
