I stared at my computer, altering between the blue rim of the case curling around the screen and the screen itself. Then I added the keyboard to the cycle. I didn't know how to react, let alone what to do.
Wow.
A wave of panic splashed over my body in a second. What do I do, when do I do it, whom should I involve, what will happen, will I survive, do I tell anyone-
"Jessica! Time for bed! I shouldn't have to remind you."
"Ok Mom."
•The Hidden Door•
I woke up Saturday morning (yay) and took my time to get out of bed because of, you know, the secret. I didn't even bother to look around for it.
I eased myself awake. I sauntered to the bathroom, taking all the time in the world to place an exact pea-sized drop of toothpaste onto my toothbrush. I rubbed slow circles on each tooth, front and back, corner to corner. Funny because I despised brushing my teeth. Couldn't there be another effortless way?
Once that horrid task was done, I splashed my face with cool water to waken me, which was only an excuse because I was already wide awake due to fear and curiosity that I was concealing underneath.
I took my time to shower and get dressed. At a leisurely pace, I walked over to a random wall that was picked as the lucky winner in Eenie-Meenie-Miney-Moe. I know what you're thinking, but everyone has that little kid inside of them.
I felt around the first wall for any bumps. Nothing. I went over to the second-place winner. Nothing.
Third-place. Nope. Which can only mean...I ever so slowly tip-toed to the last wall. Fourth place. I felt around and found a bump that was camouflaged really well. It was a big bump. I dragged my finger down and found another one, and then another. These were the hinges.
Exactly four feet over, I took a deep breath. I was about to open the door when I stopped, and realized what I was doing. I may not come out alive.
Slowly, I backed away, to my desk. I just sat for a minute. And idea burst into my head.
I'll create a suit of armor with emergency tools in it to help me along the way.
I opened up my laptop and looked up "good materials for a suit of armor."
Websites popped up, 2 per minute. I sighed. I really needed a new laptop.I was about to click on one called "buildanything.com," when my laptop crashed.
What? This can't be. What am I supposed to do now?
