I'm at my desk, wondering what to do. My laptop crashed on me at my most desperate time of need.

"Dad!," I called out. I waited a long moment. By long, I mean long. After about 10 seconds of asking, I decided to walk downstairs and march right up to him. 10 whole seconds of silence was absolutely unacceptable.

"Dad!"

No answer.

Where was he?

"Mom!" I expected a reply now, but of course, I didn't get one. Why would I anyway?

After some more wondering where everybody is, I stopped and realized that I just wandered the whole house.

"Grrrr..."

I turned and froze.

My eyes opened, then closed. Opened, then closed. Opened, then closed until my eyes could stand the bright, shining lights above me. Some muffled mumbling made its way to my ears and into my brain.

"How long has she been unconscious?"

"I don't know, Doctor. We came home from some errands and found her lying on the floor in the living room with a deep cut in her forehead."

After some more mumbling, I was able to make a small sound. I wanted their conversation over, some attention, and some knowledge on what in the world happened to me.

"Mmmph...," I grumbled. Everyone's head turned, surveying my face. Then Mom broke the silence and rushed over to me.

"Oh, my poor baby...how are you feeling? I was so worried and-"

"Ahem. If you'll excuse me... I need to see my daughter too, and the doctor needs to as well," Dad said with a small hint of a smile.

I let out a slight chuckle. If it even was a chuckle. I felt so weak.

"Oh...yeah...of course..." Mom said with a blush.

After a lot of the usual, I was finally able to ask a question without the doctor shushing me. Or at least I thought I was able to.

"Wha-"

"Jessica, would you please cooperate and be quiet? You need some rest."

Groan. What is with this doctor?

My eyes open, then go halfway down. Everything is blurry and bright. It's funny, because my room doesn't have any light that shines right on my face. It goes to the opposite side of the room. I then realized that I was sweating. And then I remembered why I was sweating. I just had a nightmare that a huge monster just appeared behind me in the living room when I was looking for someone. Then I ended up on a hospital bed.

Oh wait. Never mind.
