Wajdan had been engrossed in a conversation with Ali when he suddenly realized he hadn't seen Dua in a while. A nagging feeling of unease started creeping up on him.
He glanced around the mansion's large living room, where the laughter of their guests and the soft hum of music filled the air, but there was no sign of her.
"Excuse me for a second, Ali," Wajdan muttered, his brow furrowing in concern as he stood up from the couch.
He scanned the room again, hoping to catch a glimpse of Dua's familiar face among the crowd, but she was nowhere to be seen. His unease grew stronger, gnawing at him from the inside. Maybe she's just outside, taking a breather, he told himself, trying to shake off the creeping worry.
He made his way through the mansion, checking the kitchen, the hallway, and even the guest rooms, but still no sign of her.
His steps quickened as he pushed open the glass doors leading to the garden. The night was cool, and the soft glow of the outdoor lights created a peaceful ambiance, but there was a heaviness in Wajdan's chest that wouldn't leave.
"Dua?" he called out, his voice strained with rising anxiety.
The garden was eerily quiet, and as Wajdan stepped further along the stone pathway, something caught his eye. His heart clenched when he saw them—Dua's belongings. Her purse lay on the ground, her phone beside it, and her bracelet—one he had given her as a gift—glimmered faintly under the garden lights.
Panic surged through him like a bolt of electricity. His mind raced as he crouched down to pick up her belongings, his fingers trembling slightly. This wasn't right. Dua wouldn't just leave her things like this. Something was terribly wrong.
"Dua!" Wajdan shouted this time, his voice echoing through the garden. But there was no response, only the rustle of leaves in the breeze.
Suddenly, a cold realization struck him like a blow to the chest. The ring. The ring he had given Dua for her birthday just last night wasn't just a beautiful piece of jewelry. It had a hidden tracker embedded in the diamond. He had installed it as a precaution, never expecting to use it, but now it seemed like his only hope.
With shaky hands, Wajdan pulled out his phone and activated the tracking app. His heart pounded in his ears as he watched the screen load, praying that the signal from the ring would still be strong. Within seconds, a small blinking dot appeared on the map, not too far from their location but outside the mansion's grounds.
His breath caught in his throat as he stared at the screen, dread gripping his chest. She's been taken.
Without wasting another moment, Wajdan sprinted towards his car, dialing Ali's number as he ran.
"Ali, I need you," he said breathlessly as the call connected. "Dua's missing. I'm tracking her, but I don't know where she's been ."
"What?!" Ali's voice was sharp with alarm. "Where are you?"
