The dazzling lights of the crystal chandeliers shine splendidly above the waves of ministers and royals that glide over the polished wooden floors of the Lee palace. It was the Queen's birthday, quite the extravagant affair. She was something of a social butterfly — she loved to throw events every chance she got and she made sure to invite as many people as she could each time.

Under the glitz and glamour of the celebrations, a somber mood painted the mind of the young Prince Lee, the Queen's only son. Minho hated these social events. He always had to 'behave', as his mother puts it, and had to interact for hours on end with guests whose names he didn't even know. Contrary to the mother, these parties were quite the exhausting ordeals for the son.

He needed an escape. He had had enough for today. Once he sees that the coast is clear and no one's approaching him, he takes light, cautious footsteps out of the ballroom filled with the sound of music and chatter. His feet take him to a pair a white French doors, opening to a swathe of lush greenery that was known to few.

He finds himself surprised to see the door left slightly ajar, indicating that someone was there. He treads carefully as he searches for the intruder. Minho finally spots a head full of blonde hair standing by the mango trees, back facing him.

"I see you've discovered my secret garden."

"O-oh? I'm sorry, I just wandered in without thinking much," the blonde replies, turning around to face him.

It was like the world stopped when he set his eyes on him. He was stunned by Minho.

As for Minho, his breath hitched in his throat. Who on earth was this beautiful boy? Why had he never seen him before?

Realizing they've both been staring at each other mindlessly for more than what would be a comfortable amount of time to stare at someone you just met, they divert their gazes to anywhere but each other. Minho breaks the silence, resuming their conversation.

"I'm just kidding. You're one to hate the crowds too, huh?"

"I guess you could say that. Being a Royal and an introvert certainly isn't the greatest match made in heaven."

Minho chuckles, a light and musical noise that made the blonde want to smile with him.

"What's your name?" He asks.

"Yang Jeongin. Nice to meet you," the other man replies, extending his hand for him to shake.

"Lee Minho. The pleasure's all mine," he says flirtatiously, bringing the younger's hand up to his lips and kissing his knuckle without breaking eye contact. Jeongin blushes furiously at the action, the shine of the full moon illuminating his face and revealing the pinkness of his cheeks.

"So, you're the Queen's son?"

"I'm offended you don't know whose place you're at," Minho gasps, dramatically placing his hands on his chest and pretending to be offended. Jeongin shakes his head, a laugh bubbling up at the back of his throat.

"Come on, I've only heard of you. I don't think we've met before, have we?" He asks.

"Nope, I'm sure I'd remember you if we did. I don't forget beautiful things."

"Do you usually flirt like this with everyone?" Jeongin asks, an amused smile dancing on his lips.

"If they're a certain blue-eyed prince named Yang Jeongin, then yes," Minho replies smoothly with a wink. If he knew one thing, it was sweet talking. If it could work on old ladies, why not on a handsome guy?

"Stop it, will you?" Jeongin looks away, feeling another blush creep up his cheeks. He needed to get a grip over himself. Five minutes and he was already falling flat for the charms of a prince he just met?

"What brought you here?"

"Nothing in particular. I don't have the best social battery, so I get exhausted easily. I roamed around for a bit to get away from the noise and that's how I landed here," he explains. Minho nods in understanding.

"We're on the same boat on that," he replies. A comfortable silence engulfs them for a moment till Minho opens his mouth to speak again. "Do you want to get out of here?"

"What do you mean?" Jeongin asks, heart suddenly racing for no reason.

"It's getting kind of stuffy in here. Why don't we go out to town for a little drive or something? If you don't mind, of course," he suggests.

Jeongin's lips slowly tug up into a smile, nodding. "I'd love that," he says. Who would be stupid enough to deny such an invitation from a Prince as alluring as Minho?

"Great, let's go then. Follow me."

They make their way down mazes of corridors and staircases till they reach what appears to be a basement, filled from end to end with custom-made luxury cars in every color imaginable. Minho fishes out the keys to a red Porsche convertible — a shiny and sleek, brand new addition to his personal car collection.

"I like it," Jeongin nods in approval, getting into the shotgun seat. He wasn't much of a car person as Minho was, but he could tell he had good taste.

Minho murmurs something to the guards before turning the keys and revving up the engine, starting the car and driving out of the basement towards the main gates of the palace. The tall, imposing black figure made of strong metal opens before them and the guards bow down as they leave.

Minho lets down the roof, letting the air of the cool, spring night brush past their faces gently. They soak in the atmosphere of the night to its fullest. The streets were filled with the sounds of the residents singing and dancing to their hearts' content outside, as a major festival approaches the kingdom. Jeongin rests his head on the headrest, shutting his eyes and relaxing to the soft music Minho starts to play in the car. The scenes of night life flashes by in a blur as he speeds down the roads to somewhere unknown to Jeongin.

They drive a little further until they reach a cliff, overlooking the entire Lee kingdom. The sight was breathtaking. From this point, you could see the barest of flickers of light from every nook and corner of the town. The lights were slowly starting to dim down as it was getting late, but nevertheless, Minho and Jeongin sat inside and watched on.

"What do you think?" Minho asks expectantly. Jeongin smiles in response.

"It's beautiful."

"You're beautiful."

Jeongin finds himself speechless when he hears the words, turning to face him. All signs of playfulness had disappeared from the older's eyes. They were soft and sincere now, and he could tell he wasn't joking around.

"Minho..."

"I've got this feeling from the moment I met you. I don't know what it is, but I just feel so...drawn to you," he says, not breaking eye contact. Jeongin hesitates for a moment before finding the courage to speak up.

"If I'm being honest...me too. I don't know, but this just feels so right."

Minho eyes fall down to the younger's lips, as Jeongin too mirrors the same. Without either of them realizing, an invisible, magnetic force draws them closer and closer to each other till their lips brush against each other's. Minho makes the first move and closes the gap between them, kissing him soft and tender. Jeongin wraps his hand around his neck, fingers sliding in through his locks and tugging at his hair to kiss him more.

Minho complies, their kiss getting more passionate as he deepens it. They break away after a moment or two, both shyly smiling through small breaths.

"I want to spend more time with you, Jeongin."

"I want to too. But when will we meet again?" He asks, eyes full of uncertainty.

"I don't know, but I'm willing to wait for you."

And that was how in the midst of all the grand chaos and commotion, a love story began to bloom in the lives of the two young princes.
