The hidden Duchess | Royalty series 1

Krizzybabes

Right after Mama Mila left the mansion and forbade me to be near Vienson, I did my best to avoid him. But the next day, I wasn't lucky enough because the moment I stepped out of the maid's quarter, there he was, walking in the hallway. Our eyes met again.

"Good morning, sir," I greeted and was ready to walk away when he said something that stopped me in my tracks.

"Sir, huh? The last time we met, kulang na lang sabihan mo akong bobo sa paraan ng pananalita mo, ah?" he said in a cool tone, making me roll my eyes before turning to face him again, showing him a respectful smile.

So, he recognized me after all. "I beg to disagree with that, sir," I replied, the smile still on my lips. "I spoke to you and the lady you were with decorously, but she was mean, which triggered me to defend myself. In the first place, hindi naman ako yung may kasalanan." I smiled even wider, making his lips rise into a smirk.

"You really have the audacity to talk that way, huh? At first, I thought na malakas lang loob mo dahil hindi tayo magkakilala, but maybe you're really like that," he said.

"Of course, sir. We have what we call freedom of expression, so I have the right to answer you, explain myself, and clarify my side when it's needed. I hope you know that-you're a lawyer, after all," I said.

He clicked his tongue in annoyance. "You know what, I really hate the sharpness of your tongue, miss. You better learn how to talk to your boss properly. Should I teach you?" he asked, and I responded with my usual unbothered sneer.

"I'm not saying or doing anything wrong, Sir Vien. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have work to do, so I'd better leave you alone," I answered without dropping that unbothered yet respectful smile on my face. "See you when I see you, sir. I'll go ahead," I added, turning my back on him as I walked away.

I did everything I had to do with the help of Manang Lydia. I used to think house chores were easy since I'd been helping Hera and Hari at home, but it's a lot more than I expected.

For the first three days, I made a lot of mistakes. I kept breaking things like glasses and plates whenever I washed the dishes, so Manang Lydia asked me to stop working in the kitchen before I broke everything inside. She reassigned me to sweep the front yard and backyard every morning, dust the windows, furniture, and items on the shelves. It was much easier for me since I wasn't breaking things anymore. Still, it wasn't simple because every time Sir Vienson showed up, he'd make me redo things, saying it wasn't spotless enough to meet his standards. I had to ensure everything was perfectly clean, though he would always find something else for me to do even when everything was already in order. In short, he was making things difficult for me.

By nightfall, I was always drained and could easily fall asleep. Sometimes, I forgot to take off my contact lenses, making my eyes red and irritated, so I made sure to remove them before going to bed, just like now.

"Yes!" I yelled from inside the room after hearing a loud knock on the door. I was already lying on the bed, ready to sleep, but whoever it was interrupted me. "I'm coming, just wait," I said in annoyance because they wouldn't stop knocking.

"Go get my coffee downstairs and-why the hell are your eyes blue?" he asked, interrupting himself after staring at my eyes. My heart sank. I forgot to wear my contact lenses before opening the door. I almost freaked out, but I managed to pull myself together and stay calm.
