"Where are you going?" my monster of a boss, asked as I walked down the staircase with a backpack slung over my shoulder, ready to leave the mansion for the meantime.

I shut my eyes tightly for a moment at the sound of his voice, then turned to face him with a forced smile. "Home, sir. Today is Saturday, and tomorrow is my day off, so I'm heading home," I replied, doing my best not to sound sarcastic.

He gave me a smug look, walking closer. "You won't be taking a day off tomorrow," he declared. I raised an eyebrow. "My friends and I are going to the mall this evening, and since all the other maids are a bit old-except you-I'll need your assistance to carry all the things I buy," he added with a smirk as if he knew what I was about to ask. I rolled my eyes.

"Do you need my assistance, or are you just trying to make my life miserable?" I shot back, crossing my arms over my chest. He smirked again but tried to maintain an innocent look.

"What are you talking about?" he retorted, trying to act as if he had no idea what I was implying. "I'm simply asking for your help because I need it, and here you are accusing me of something I didn't even do." He added a wounded tone for good measure, but I wasn't buying it. I rolled my eyes again.

"No worries, Mikyla. You won't be doing this for free. I'll pay you for your time, so there's no need to stress," he said as if that would make everything better.

"Yeah, 'sir,' whatever!" I replied, heavy on the sarcasm, putting extra stress on the word 'sir' to let him know exactly how I felt. "Just call me at the maids' quarters, 'sir,' when you're ready to leave," I added, again emphasizing 'sir' with a mocking tone.

He could only watch me with narrowed eyes as I made my way back upstairs. Alone in the maids' room, since all the others had gone home for their day off, I lay on the mattress and called Mama Mila to let her know I wouldn't be able to come home this weekend because the boss needed my "help." She was worried, but I reassured her I was fine.

After what felt like forever, someone finally knocked on my door. I got up to answer, and there he was-the arrogant boss-dressed in a royal blue polo shirt and black pants.

"We're leaving," he announced, giving me a once-over as if to check my outfit. I had on a simple white top with a cherry design on the chest and high-waisted blue jeans.

I just nodded and followed him out. Sabay kaming pumunta kung saan man kami pupunta, riding in his Lamborghini Aventador. The ride was dead silent, and I stared out the window, watching the busy streets. It was already 8:30 in the evening, and I had no idea where we were headed. He said he and his friends were going shopping, but it was nearly 9:00 PM-what mall was even open this late?

Though I was curious, I didn't bother asking. It wasn't any of my business. If the mall was closed, that was their problem, not mine. I couldn't care less.

Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the mall parking lot-the same one where we had bumped into each other before. His friends were already waiting outside the building-not for me, of course, but for him.

I looked around. Wala ng tao sa paligid, yet the mall was still open as if it had been kept open just for them. I found it strange. Beatrice shot me a smirk as if already plotting something, but I ignored her. I wasn't going to let her get under my skin.

"Hey, bitch!" Beatrice called, tossing three branded paper bags in my direction. "Carry these too," she added, rolling her eyes. I sighed, took a deep breath, and picked up the bags.
