The Hidden Duchess | Royalty Series 1

"Good morning," Sir Vienson chirped with a dazzling gleam in his eyes so I looked around the kitchen, wondering if anyone else was there, but we were alone and he was definitely greeting me.
"Good morning, sir," I greeted back, hesitantly. It felt strange that he was being so nice, and acting like we were good friends. "Do you want me to prepare your coffee, sir? Americano or with cream?" I asked, but he shook his head, his smile never fading.
"No need, Mikyla. I can do that myself. You may proceed to your other work now so you can rest early," he said, making me even more confused. I shrugged it off, thinking maybe he'd just had a good night's sleep and was in a good mood.
I went about my usual routine: sweeping the yard, watering the plants, and dusting the living room and he didn't bother me, he just sat on the sofa, seriously facing his laptop so I finished early, and it felt really odd.
He didn't bother me while I rest in my room either. No calls to order me around, no additional work, nothing at all; It was very strange.
Days went by, and he continued to be nice to me. Even the other maids noticed. He often smiled at me or greeted me as if we were good friends for a long time and I couldn't help but be baffled. Even the other maids, including Manang Lydia, noticed his actions.
"Nag-iiba trato ni Sir Vienson sa'yo, hija," she commented, her eyes on me as she cleaned the kitchen countertop.
"Yeah, he's been like that since last week, Manang Lydia. Honestly, I'm confused. He's acting weird," I said, my confusion evident as I wash the dishes.
Manang Lydia heaved a sigh and faced me, concern in her eyes. I'm just really worried about you, hija." She said hesitantly, so I looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile.
"It's okay, Manang Lydia. What is it?" I asked, urging her to speak.
"Well, hija, I just want to remind you, if you can, don't be carried away by Sir Vienson's actions and what he shows you," she said.
Mama Mila had told me the same thing, so I couldn't help but wonder about it, aside from the reason that he is a playboy and he's our boss. "Bakit po, Manang?" I inquired curiously.
"Well, hija, we just don't want you to get hurt in the end. Sir Vienson doesn't take women seriously, so if you can, don't fall for him." Instead of Manang Lydia, Ate Inday answered my question.
" Ate Mary added, and I listened to all their advice.
